Description}: I bought the ProCamera app Amy mentioned in her chat yesterday and used it for these photos. I took them on our way to a family party yesterday afternoon. These are from the moving car on the Whitestone Bridge and is of the Manhattan skyline on a very hazy afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Thanks, Amy! I also can't wait to get my Olloclip :)

Description}: Only able to shoot jpeg until I can get LR 4. I can't even remember the last time I shot jpeg :/ Oh well, this is straight out of the camera at 12,800 ISO in my dark family room. I was blown away. I wouldn't have been able to get this shot without a flash on my 50D.

Winter Surfing

Description}: Long weekend trip to Navarre Beach FL. Caught some surfers in action yesterday morning ... made me think of Katie P. and her "love" for all things surfing. Not a good weekend to be at the beach .. clouds, rain, wind and a thunderstorm right now. Which means I haven't gone shelling and very little picture taking. Plus we had car trouble yesterday afternoon that left us stranded on the side of the road. Car towed to local dealer and got a rental. Hopefully it will be repaired Monday so we can go back home. But, we are at the BEACH and that is always a good thing :-) TFL, Gail

Description}: One of the photos I took through the window of the old general store at Bodie!! I played with it in photoshop and loved how it turned out. I had it printed on canvas and framed. I wish I would have written down how I did this. I used nik sharpener and some blend modes till I got the look I wanted. I hope this helps!!

This falls a long way short of that, but it IS my first one... so here is a larger copy! I used exposure bracketing to get the three photos below and combined in Photomatrix. I have tried using Photoshop's HDR and it simply looked muddy. [img]http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7024/6757236041_296233dc64_b.jpg[/img] BTW, I bought a small Android phone (HTC Wildfire S) recently and installed HDR Camera which does a reasonable job (for a phone!). Amazing technology!

Sunset in the fall

Description}: I'm excited, I just took this one tonight after having this fall sunset on my mind for days. Straight out of the camera. Right now I have a hard time scrapping my nature photos but eventually I'll get there. We just moved near the beaches so I had never seen the sunset near the water around this time of year. It's a little different than summer's sunset. When I was driving home on the bridge a few days ago, I saw how it was setting (where it's taking up the sky---hard to explain) and there was a silhouette of someone in a canoe; it would have made the perfect picture, but too bad I was driving on the bridge. So I took my hand and pretended it was my camera and snapped the photo, lol, I wish I could have gotten that one, but I said I will keep going to the pier to see if I can get something close to it. Thanks for reading/looking.

Description}: This was a beautiful display by a garden society in Alabama. This was my 1st time capturing Christmas lights successfully. I shot in Manual Mode; hand held. I was pregnant when I took these photos. It was a lot of walking, and I was wobbling midway though the tour, lol. These gardens are one of my favorite places to visit. 60 acres of beauty, good exercise, extremely quiet, lots of fresh air, but too many bumble bees in the daytime :+)

Description}: Hope everyone had a safe and relaxing holiday weekend. I enjoyed our local parade this morning and fireworks show this evening. The fireworks photos are an improvement over last year's batch so that is a good thing. I long for a fireworks shows with a more picturesque background other than a plain dark sky ... got lucky on this one and captured a streak of lightning as well. Canon XSi, lens 60mm. Camear settings: Aperture Priority, f16, ISO 800, ended up with a 32 sec expsoure, used tripod. Bumped up levels and adjusted noise in PSE9. Thanks for looking, Gail

The fireworks photos are an improvement over last year's batch so that is a good thing. I long for a fireworks shows with a more picturesque background other than a plain dark sky. Canon XSi, 60mm lens. Camera settings: Aperture Priority, f13, ended up with a 20 sec exposure, ISO 100, used tripod. This was my second shot of the evening and I should have left the settings alone because I only ran the remove noise filter on this one but there really wasn't anything to remove. However, I really think it has a lot to do with how "bright" the particular firework is. Patience is a virtue as well ... I missed some pretty fireworks because the camera was "working" :-) Thanks for looking, Gail

She is a classy and beautiful lady and I was priviledged to get to spend time with her today. We were in San Francisco - we rode a cable car and walked down the Hyde St pier and then to Pier 39. We saw the sea lions and had a yummy lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The weather was glorious. Wish we could have had more time. Thank you Christina! Praying for a safe journey back to Haiti. Description}: I received this wonderful end-of-year thank you gift from a dear student today. Handmade by her Mom. White chocolate daisy flower with blue center wrapped individually and tied with a blue ribbon arranged in a neat little paper-mache flower pot with green grass. They are good, good, good. Just what a P.E. teacher needs :-)
