Liz was quite young... maybe 6 or 7... and this stay happened to be over May Day. They decided to make paper May baskets and fill them with flowers picked fresh from the garden... a tradition that has sadly faded away. Early in the morning, they placed the baskets on the front porch of friend�s homes, rang the door bell and ran away for them to find the basket... wondering who left the surprise. Mom called Liz today... maybe 50 years later... to see if she remembered their fun. Liz broke down in tears of joy. Sweet memories shared from a time long ago...

Description}: It was always an honor to participate in the Junior Lodge. Community service and respect for others were character traits nurtured in the children at the Home. The Junior Lodge traveled to different cities in the area to participate in Woodmen of the World conventions. Several of Fran�s best friends shared in these adventures... fostering special relationships over the years. After graduating High School and leaving the home, many of the children kept in touch. However, Ella Mae Smith, Fran�s best friend, left for Arizona to be with relatives and sadly, was never heard from again. Even with the advent of internet search, no trace of her has been found. Sadie Pulliam moved to California, became engaged but was murdered before her marriage. A Day In The Park

Description}: Spur of the moment... Such a glorious day in Colorado... perfect time for a quick trip to Rocky Mt. National Park... our backyard. Fenway is always ready for an adventure so we first took her to our secret place along Glacier Creek... outside the Park... where she could run off leash and have the time of her life. At one point, she spotted two buck and came to a perfect point. She knows when to leave the territory to the natives. The color was not as spectacular this year but still worth a trip to Moraine Meadow and Sheep Meadow where we could stay on the road with Fenway and still capture the beauty that is truly... our backyard. Description}: I made a photobook for my mother for Christmas. Previously, I posted 4 pages that are in my gallery which explained the tragedies and losses in her life that precipitated her move into an orphanage. The 34 pages I�ve just completed chronicle her early years in West Texas, before her move to the Woodman Circle Home, using some wonderful photos that stayed with her through her 88 yrs. Some of the journaling has been modified to respect my mother's privacy.
