Description}: My maternal grandmother's sister. She's an absolute gem. Still totally with it but frail. We all gathered for her birthday last Saturday. She loved it so much that she said to me that she would have to have another birthday party next weekend as well! Journaling: We all gathered for Aunty's 100th birthday. She looked so lovely in her cardigan. Except for the oxygen bottle and her wheel chair she was the same old Aunty that I remember since I was a child. We had a chat and she said that it was so lovely to see everyone that she would have to have another birthday next weekend! She mustered enough breath to thank everyone and crack a few jokes to the crowd. Such a wonderful lady! Description}: for the 30mm challenge. I was mucking around with blending modes and found that the exclusion mode made a rather interesting effect for my night-time shot. This was taken last year on my trip to the city with our local camera club. Can you imagine middle aged camera buffs scurrying along the riverbank with their tripods?!! journaling: We thought we had it timed just right to make it back for the next explosion of the gas flares, but either our clocks were slow or their clock was fast because we were still scampering along the river bank as the flames began to hiss and boom. We took hurried shots from a distance and rued our missed opportunity. All goodies from the challenge freebie. Artsy Challenge - New Computer

Description}: Another page for my travel album inspired by Anke's great challenge! Some notes about the blending: I used Katie's Done with Doilies Layered Template which already has layers that lend themselves to blending. I placed the Photo Masks No 4 under my photos with a cream color layer clipped to it. On top of that I clipped the Artsy Paint in Multiply mode and then duplicated the layer for a more vibrant look. In my playing around I did try other favorite blending modes such as Soft Light and Hard Light. I often use them for blending photos, but they didn't give the look I was after for this page. My journaling layer is also in Multiply mode - I like how it makes it look like it blends into the paper. Journaling: It was so oppressively hot that we decided to travel into Warrnambool for the shelter of a shopping centre. We soon found ourselves at Harvey Norman and since we were in the market for a laptop for Zoe and didn't have much else to do we recklessly bought a HP Envy; our first touch screen computer. Zoe was over the moon and couldn't wait to get back to the campsite to unpack it! By this time a cool change came through. I went 1/320th second to freeze the action in Shutter priority. I was lucky that although it was a bit overcast there was still plenty of light so the camera chose ISO 100 at f/5.6.

Description}: Well, after photographing the beautiful bird at the petrol station, the only other thing of interest for the next few hours of travel was roadworks. So here they are in all their glory! :) Katie is releasing a travel kit that was just perfect - it even has a little wooden replica of our Honda Odyssey in it! The funny thing about the trip is that the tables have turned. When the kids were little we'd get endless questions about how much further and were we there yet. Description}: I loved Squeak's inspiration! I've been trying to tell my 51yo DH that he can't expect to be competitive against players half his age. He just proved me wrong! Journaling (from the tournament website): In the first final of the tournament local side Kanyana faced off against Melbourne Uni Renegades in the Men�s Division 3 final. Kanyana had progressed through the pools to finish on top of the ladder and continued their good form in the final. After a shaky start Alan Andrews led his side back from 9-2 to clinch the tight first set 25-23. The second set was just as tight with Kanyana looking to have lost it when they were 22-24 down. However Rowan Gillespie and David Blume powered their team back into the lead to win the set 26-24. The third set was a formality for the Kanyana side as their opposition gave all of their players a run. Kanyana took the third set and the match 25-13 to claim the first set of pottery for the weekend. Kanyana def Renegades 3-0: 25-23, 26-24, 25-13 Journaling (by me): Kanyana entered a team for the Dragon City Tournament but they were a few players short. They asked Allan to fill in. There�s no room for compromise when it comes to Allan�s competitive spirit. He played like a man half his age!
