We often borrow books, and DVDs, usually on Amy or Tom's cards as these don't get fined if we return the books late (which is always...). Of course over the summer we took out two books on my card, and promptly lost one - a One Direction trivia book. I've been searching all this time, and it turned up this week in a bag in the hall. Also in the bag was a tutu we'd needed earlier in the summer, but which was unfindable. Isn't it strange how that happens? So I've returned the book, paid a fine that was more than the book was worth, but feel happy, after all the library is such a great community resource, and I know they're always in danger of closing due to funding shortages. While we were there I just had to take a quick snap of the two of them reading together, it makes me smile. The schools here have been back since the middle of August, but I hadn't scrapped the photos yet. Partly that was because our back to school photos are always a little less polished than others. I admire those of you who can set up an impromptu photo shoot. For us, the first morning of term is always rushed. Hey, who am I kidding, most mornings we're rushed! So, as we want to walk to school, not drive, and there are always a few extra things to do that you forget before you leave the house, it's just 'Stop!' as they are walking across the driveway. It's on a huge site of moorland, and there are many trails through it for outdoor pursuits. Last Thursday we had no plans, as we come towards the end of the school holidays, and when I checked my email I had one from Whitelee advertising their free crafty activities which sounded perfect. So we spent several hours there. First Amy made a windmill to take home, then after lunch at their cafe we walked out to see the wind turbines. They are so large! Also, we picked up a map, and it's always funny that you feel you've been walking for ages, yet on the map you've only covered the smallest part of the whole site. After the walk we came back to the visitor centre for juice and a cake, before they had a look at the shop. Amy chose a pinwheel for 50p, Tom a stretchy character for 30p. I've always wanted to spot something in a rock pool (besides shells), but the beaches near where we live don't have many rocks. While in Scarborough we explored the rocks, and I saw a tiny crab! I was so happy lol! We were talking about it, and looked through the paper album I made from Amy's first holiday there in 2009. It was so fun, and made me miss that kind of scrapping. I love digi, but I am so bad for never printing out my pages, and am useless at theme albums! So I've decided I want to make one this year, it'll be simple, and Lynn's templates are perfect for that. Just photos, and journalling, and I'm printing them out 8x8" as I go so I can put them straight in an album!
