Sigh. Journaling: I love to take photos.; To be honest; I have never taken my photography seriously.; It has always been something that excites me; that has given me joy; that has challenged me; that has made me happy.; But just a hobby; nothing more.; Recently “what ifs” have been cropping up.; What if I tried to do something with it? Do I have what it takes? There’s SO much I need to learn! Mary’s already asked me if I’m interested in working with her.; The idea has me completely intrigued.; It has me scared.; It has my wheels spinning.; It has me excited. I never meant to scrap this photo but after recently creating a two page spread of our week long family vacation and not having one decent photo of myself to show for it, I decided to make a page about it. Template by Cathy Zielske from DYL class (I am totally addicted to Cathy's templates)! Journaling: created a 2 page layout recently of our week long summer vacation.; When I finished it I felt; sad because I couldn’t find one photo of me that I could include.; I had some great shots of everyone in the family. Photos of you playing together; fishing; riding in the boat; walking along the beach; eating ice cream; sitting around the campfire; playing cards; and shots of you just hanging out and having a good time.; I was there too; remember?; The entire time.; I played games with you; I walked the beach with you; I roasted marshmallows right along side you but there’s no documentation.; It’s my own fault.; I’m the one who insists on taking the photos.; I’m the one who hates seeing myself in pictures.; I’m the one who needs to let someone else take the picture. It is perfect for a mini album. Journaling: You didn’t want to pose for a picture. Something about always having a camera in your face does that to a boy. “Come on Conor, it’ll only take a minute.” First you covered your head. Then you began to look at me with this defiant face. However, soon I could see the beginnings of a smile working it’s way out. Try as you might, you could not keep a smile off your face. (from Cathy's Design Your Life Class at Big Picture Scrapbooking). Journaling: We never expected cold weather in the middle of July but that’s what we experienced during our weeklong stay at Denis & Irene’s cottage. Their cottage has to rate as one of the most beautiful and relaxing places to be. Nestled right on Lake Lucerne, it gave us a wonderful backdrop to play games, read, fish, and sit out by the fire pit. I loved hearing the pair of loons calling in the morning. Journaling: You looked so cute all decked out in your clown outfit; complete with a red nose, multi-colored wig and giant, floppy shoes. You were bouncing around the house in anticipation of getting to go trick or treating with your friends. Alone. Without any adults. Going alone was going to be a milestone for you. It was a sign that we trusted you and meant newfound freedom. However, that carefree attitude changed with a phone call from Emma. She asked if you’d mind if her 16 year old boy cousin could come along. You had no choice but say okay. His coming along was going to change everything. And you didn’t like it. I could see it immediately in your face. Every picture after that call showed your disappointment. I was disappointed for you too. Plus, I didn’t like the idea of a teenage boy hanging out with you either. Thank goodness for Dad. He walked along with you two (and the cousin). It wasn’t what you initially planned but it all turned out okay and you had a good time. It was so nice to see the smile come back to your face. The awning on the boat cast a yellowish green color over my kids. Instead of changing it, I decided to use it as the color inspiration for my page (or maybe I'm just lazy)! Journaling: On this visit to Grandpa Sandstrom’s, Ginny suggested we go to the interstate park and take the cruise down the St. Croix River. It was the perfect day to be on the water; sunny with a gentle breeze. We hopped on The Taylors Falls Princess for an 80 minute guided tour. During the ride, Dad took you to the boat’s snack bar and you each bought a bag of Sour Skittles. You can see both of your initial reactions to the taste. I love your puckered up faces. Seeing your reaction, we all had to try them. Whew! They were sour! Even Grandpa liked them. They were sour but surprisingly addicting and added an extra bit of fun to a quiet, lazy ride down the river.
