I hope you'll take a look. :O) For about 10 years now, Iíve thought to myself . . . If I won the lottery, Iíd buy a piece of land outside of the city limits & build a house (starting over clutter-free is always a nice thought). This would be our retirement home, but more than that it would be a retirement home for dogs - old dogs - old dogs who have no one. They could spend the rest of their days playing with other dogs & relaxing with other dogs & being loved by me. Itís a very simple thought really,; & I like it a lot. There would be tons of room for running and playing & we could have a big deck for laying in the sun. The house could have a big room with tons of dog beds & another area where all the dogs could eat together (or have their own space if needed). Can you just imagine the mud room I could have in that house?!! I think I need a new pinterest board. I should probably buy a ticket every once in awhile, too. You never know what might happen. I could get lucky! Oh, I can see Gary now, running his hands over his face, holding his breath, then slowly shaking his head smiling . . . Thatís when he knows itís useless to even say anything - but, it doesnít matter because he knows Iím happy. I love these challenges, there so good for getting done what I normally put to the bottom of my 'to scrap' pile! Thanks for the inspiration to get my dream documented, Kelly! I often dream of getting all the kids and their families together in one place at the same time. I dream of my family and Vincentís family joining us. While the logistics and the cost would be of headache proportions with family in the UK, South Africa, Namibia and Australia, it doesnít stop me from thinking about it. Often. So when, not if you understand, but when I win the lottery I will be looking for a beach house big enough for everyone to come and stay so we can return the wonderful and generous hospitality weíve been given by everyone over the years. Come to think about it, with the size of the Tomsí side of the family, Iíd look to buy a hotel. A veranda would wrap around the property where we would catch up and laugh and share stories and braai and eat and watch the sunset. Thereíd be a pool and a jacuzzi just off the veranda with the same bleached decking with canvas sun umbrellaís and the kids would run and jump and splash about and dry off in the sun. Theyíd run down onto the beach and build sandcastles and pick shells and play games of make believe and jet ski and dip their toes in the gentle waves that would lap onto the beach of silky sand. The kitchen would be large with a centre island and fresh flowers and a double door fridge and built in appliances and weíd chat and make lattes and cappuccinoís and drink wine out of tall, elegant glasses. The windows would have shutters and the staircase would be grand. Thereíd be a mudroom with wellies and fishing nets and straw hats. The lounge would be big with floor to ceiling windows and some comfy sofaís and footstools and coffee tables and rugs and a big open fire and photoís on the walls and a big clock. The bedrooms would be calming and restful with floor to ceiling cupboard space and window seats with cushions and beds with chunky knitted throws. The bathrooms would be spacious en suites with wonderful power showers and deep baths and big mirrors and fluffy towels. There would be lots of white space and neutrals and pops of colour. It would be a happy, feel-good place with lots of light and warmth and comfort. So you see, when I think of the fun time weíd have, I know it would be the best ever. I thought about it & came up with several people . . . Jim Henson & Kermit the frog were the first to mind quickly followed by Dame Maggie Smith, Meryl Streep, Robin Williams, Alanis Morissette, Maya Angelou, Johnny Depp, Colin Powell, Dianna Gabaldon, Diane Sawyer, (oh, I could go on and on). When I started thinking about why I would like to meet these people I found that with all of them there is something in their personality that I wish I had. I came across a photographer in one of my facebook groups who intrigued me. Her profile picture jumped out at me because along with her dogs being in the picture she had a cigarette in her hand. How many cigarette images do we see these days??? This combined with the fact that she was in a ďprofessionalĒ fb group made me look further. Mind you, itís not that I thought this was bad, I just found it very interesting and wanted to know more about what made this lady tick. I spent the next 2.5 hours reading her blog, reading her fb page, and looking at her photography site. I was in love. This woman is about my age, is a photographer who works with pets, adores her husband and grown daughter, loves her dogs . . . and is very, very, matter of factly, in your face, real. I wrote her a letter (fan mail I guess HA!) then I deleted it and condensed it all to this message: Iím inspired, Iím impressed, I want to be you . . . but, then who would be me? (The last part was typed out before I even realized I had done it.) This is when I realized that this was the same way I felt about the famous people that I would like to meet. In many ways I want to BE them. But then maybe I like being me. Hey, I think Kermit said something like that once.

4 comments Sat, 28 Feb 2015 23:56:22 +0000 Dear DotÖ Who Would I Like to Meet? ~AAM Challenge

by: Jane_Bond7

Description}: I did a paper version of this page years ago, thought I'd do one for my digi album. Your son talks about you all the time. I know we would have been very close and I miss the relationship that could have been, and the grandmother my kids will never know. I just want to thank you for raising such a wonderful son, and let you know that he is happy. I know before you passed away that you were worried about him and his relationship, and you obviously had good reason. Itís ironic how women can sometimes see things, that men overlook. I know that although you werenít fond of her, you chose to rise above it, to keep the peace, to ensure you had access to your son and grandsons. Well she did eventually break his heart, and split up the family, something he never thought he would get over.... especially after, you passing away, his marriage breaking up, and him giving up the business, all in the span of a year. But he is strong and with 2 young boys to be there for, he persevered and made a new life for himself. Thatís when I came along, but I think you already know that... I always tell him, he has an angel on his shoulder watching over him. I want to let you know, that everything turned out alright, even though itís been a long bumpy road. She never made it easy for any of us, including her own 2 children, but we pulled together as a family and all have good relationships, despite her. Your 2 older grandsons have grown into fine young men, that you would be proud of. Richard points out frequently all your Bondy traits that the boys have inherited. You also have 2 other grandsons, that are the apple of our eyes, and that Iím sure you would have loved dearly, and they you. I would like to let you know that you raised your son to be an amazing father, who has wonderful values and strives to be the best he can, in all that he does. He is a good provider and insures, none of us wants for anything, but also knows the importance of family life and always puts his family first. He is a hands-on dad and makes sure he there for his boys when they need him. He is also a wonderful husband, who knows me almost better than I know myself. He is my rock, my best friend, my confidante. There are so many questions I would love to ask you, what your son was like as a young boy? His likes and dislikes, your hopes and dreams for himÖ But, I am certain, we will meet one day, and all my questions will be answered. I know you had a special relationship with your son and that he misses you dearly, but even though you were taken at such an early age, you were a great role model and instilled wonderful values in your son. I know that he will pass these on to his children, and them to their own children and nobody can ask for a better legacy than that! Until me meet, Love your daughter-in-law, Jane xo

13 comments Thu, 26 Feb 2015 02:56:41 +0000 AAM Challenge - Bruce's Mother

by: jcaruth910

Description}: Bruceís mother passed away at the early age of fifty; long before he and I ever met. Journaling reads: Every day, as I cross over the waters of the Yellowstone River I imagine the sights, sounds and events that Lewis and Clark witnessed traveling down these very waters 209 years ago. I would love to have had a meal waiting at the shore as they journeyed East. They traveled through what is present day Columbus, Montana heading East on their return voyage to St. Louis. While their story is well documented, as a resident of Montana I know firsthand the challenges our environment can create for man and beast. The courage and determination of these great men is immeasurable and I marvel everyday at what they did to begin the settlement of the West. Ah, yes... memories of Christmases past... with a birthday right before Christmas, I always made sure Shannon's special day wasn't spoiled by Christmas festivities! Which made for many crazed, last-minute decorating! JOURNALING HOW IT WAS... HOW IT IS... DECEMBER... Shannonís birthday on the 14th and Christmas 11 days later. I never wanted the excitement of Christmas to overshadow her special day, so I made the rule: No Christmas decor until after her birthday or birthday party, whichever came later. (I did bend to pressure and allow outside lights to be hung after Thanksgiving, but nothing else! Ha.) I remember scheduling parties around school break and soccer tournaments, so some years it was way early and some years it was really close to Christmas--the top photo was taken on December 19th! Yikes! Boy, did we scramble to get Christmas set up after the party girls left! But, thatís how it was. And, then one day... I canít remember when... you wanted the tree decorated and all the Christmas decor to be set up over Thanksgiving weekend. Yes... before your birthday. And so, thatís how it is. (And I have to admit, itís nice not freaking out on December 19th! *smiley*) ALL SUPPLIES FROM DESIGNER DIGITALS KATIE PERTIET Hello December Solids Paper Pack (charcoal gray background paper, teal photo mat) Arrowed Sentiments Brushes and Stamps No. 01 (wordart with arrows; I extracted an arrow to accent the journaling) Jingle Element Pack (candy cane) STUDIO DOUBLE-D Curated Studio Mix Scrapbooking Kit No. 18 (ribbon bow) CATHY ZIELSKE Six by Eights No. 01 Layered Template Set (photo template) LYNN GRIEVESON Andersen Cards, Tags and Printables (pocket "how it was" card, "december" tag, blank tag... Head on over and join in the fun! Kelly's gave me the nudge I need to give myself a good talking to! Thanks for the challenge Kelly! Lately Iíve been getting a little stressed about my level of fitness and more so, the extra pounds that are creeping back on. My clothes are feeling less comfortable and Iím craving so much sweet stuff. Constantly. I have the devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. I know my level of fitness is nowhere near where it was in February 2013 when I felt the best Iíve felt in years. And the figure showing on the scale is leaning more and more to the right of where it was way back then. So I need to listen up. And listen well. Enough of the excuses. I know the ones. Getting home from work at 6.15pm and considering it Ďtoo lateí to exercise. Thinking Iím too tired but then I still donĎt get into bed at a reasonable time. Thinking Iíve had a lousy day when most days arenít that lousy, itís just that Iíd rather be doing other things. Thinking Iíll exercise tomorrow - and then I donít. Thinking I just canít be bothered. And when I make an excuse, I merely waste the time I would have spent exercising doing nothing particularly productive. I know if Iím exercising I feel a whole lot better. So Iím disappointed in myself. Iíve struggled to get back Ďin the zoneí. But I will get back on track. I have to. I need to get back to the balance. To the exercise and healthy eating balance. Including drinking more water. And I mustnít think the Christmas season is a reason not to exercise and eat healthily. Itís about moderation. And the fact that I feel so much better when I have this balance. I can do this. I will do this. STARTING TODAY. If you suggested that he do something specific, he would often say, ďIíll have one of my people do it.Ē Then heíd grin and usually one of the grandkids would jump up and down with their hand in the air saying, ďIíll do it, Nonno!Ē I can hear my dadís response very clearly in my mind these days... and in my heart. Thanks for the challenge, Pam. We have a family here in Tucson who lost three of their four children, over about a 15 year period to Niemann-Pick Type C Disease. Annually, there was a benefit to raise money for research to find a cure for this devastating disease. Amy Grant performed frequently at this benefit, but one year, Vince Gill took her place. At the end of the night, he sang this song. I am grateful every day for the health of my children, and for the blessed life that I live. This song is a reminder of how important it is to be thankful for what you have and pay it forward. You canít take it with you. Lyrics: You read the business page, see how you did today Life's just passed you by You live up on the hill, you've got a view that kills And never wonder why After you've counted everything you've saved Do you ever hit your knees and pray? You know there's gonna be a judgment day So what will you say? No matter what you make All that you can take Is what you give away What you give away There's people on the street, ain't got enough to eat And you just shake your head The measure of a man is one who lends a hand That's what my father said After you've counted everything you've saved Do you ever hit your knees and pray? You know there's gonna be a judgment day So what will you say? No matter what you make All that you can take Is what you give away You know it's not too late It's all for Heaven's sake What you give away Credits: Lynn Grieveson' Life in Pictures No. 02 Template Album Distressed lines and Word Art Brushes and Stamps Katie Pertiet Blendable Layers No. 07 Metsa Painted Accents Blendable Layers No. 06 Brierley Roughed Up Paper Pack Thanks for looking!

8 comments Fri, 24 Oct 2014 21:41:04 +0000 AAM: Anthem

by: rache77

Description}: I love U2 and their song "All that You Can't Leave Behind" speaks to me like no other..In fact I was humming the song while doing the page! :-) Credits: Almost Spring Kit Finley Kit Creswell Element Pack Autumnal Artistry Brushes and Stamps Cold Spring Brushes and Stamps Blendable Layers No. 4 and 5 Blendable Layered Template No. 3 Letterbox Essentilas No. 1 Thanks for taking a peek!

6 comments Thu, 23 Oct 2014 21:06:32 +0000 It's My Life

by: blkcow

Description}: This song by Bon Jovi, has got to be my favorite song of all anthem. Earlier this week I was part of leading a prayer gathering where thousands of women gathered all across the world to pray and ask God to be mightily used to make a difference in our unique places. I am a GIANT introvert and am not a fan of talking in front of people, much less PRAYING in front of them, but nevertheless, felt called to be a part of leading this in our community. 28 women gathered from 10 different churches in our area and it was an awesome night. Definitely out of my comfort zone, but definitely worth it! The words on the chalkboard background is my prayer that I led that evening. TFL! Arthritis has taken its toll along with a broken bone and rickety knees and hips. My comfort zone now is to stand alone and watch others scramble over hills and rocks. Hope you'll play along. :O) A friend works at a middle school an hour away and asked if Iíd help out with a project she was doing. The kids were going to build a box city on the property of the school and stay there until midnight. This was an exercise that dealt with homelessness. Karen wanted me to give a presentation on the subject. Well, working with these people for so many years, I knew enough and could research any specifics that I needed for our area and figured I could do it . . . but, oh I really wanted to say, ďI would love to, but . . . Ē So, although I could have turned her down, she was my friend, so I said, ďyesĒ and figured I'd deal with the nerves later. I had never spoken to a large group of people before and there was a reason for that . . . it was a large group of people! This was going to be worse . . . it was a large group of middle-schoolers! Ack. I wrote note card after note card and practiced until I had it practically memorized. Then I practiced out loud to the traffic as I drove the hour to the school. I was soooooo out of my comfort zone. When I got there, I got to know the kids by taking pictures of their progress with the city. They were loving it and loving that I was taking pictures . . . (middleschoolers, remember?) I had no idea, but this was exactly what needed to be done in order to have the whole speech thing work out. From the very beginning, the kids were very attentive, and I think it was because they felt they knew me. At the end they asked questions and then some of them actually came up and told me stories that related to my presentation. I was still shaking a bit, but by the time I was back in my car I felt nothing but pride. I did it. I never would have thought that I could. Something I had been afraid of all my life and I concoured it . . . with a little help from my friend. (Not saying I want to do it again any time soon . . . Ha!) I'm late to the game, but I found myself messing with the journaling on this one forever! There really is no way for me to describe it. I had no idea that I could love a man-made structure so much. That's not me. There's nothing sentimental about it, nothing that fits with my usual love of color or texture . . . I just LOVE these things. I want to take pictures of them any time I see them. One day I'm going to find a way to stand right up next to one and have my picture taken with it. Call me crazy . . . ;) Journaling: I find that Iím most impressed with things that are on a scale that is not the norm. The first time I visited the Lincoln memorial I was so impressed, but it was not for reasons that I expected. I was impressed with the sheer size of the thing. I couldnít quit looking at it. On our first trip out west we stopped at the Badlands of SD. Once again, very impressive. Mount Rushmore was nice, but standing right in the heart of the Badlands, there is a different feeling. Like we are quite small in a big world. From then on it was my answer to the question, ďWhatís your favorite place to visit?Ē When I travel on the road these days, one of my most favorite sights is the large wind farms. I knew these farms existed, but had no idea the effect they would have on me when I actually saw one. They seem to go on for miles and the large farm itself looks so small tucked into the middle of these huge turbines. They are massive and I have to make myself keep my eyes on the road if I pass a truck hauling one of the huge blades. There is no way for me to describe my ďexcitementĒ when seeing one of these. It seems silly even to me, but I canít help it if I find these massive pinwheels exhilerating. Rainbow Loom is my guilty pleasure. LOL! :) It all looks like my daughter's, but I have my own sets too. Journaling reads: I am addicted to Rainbow Loom. My daughter first tried it in summer camp last year. One of the girls brought one in and showed it off. So we got one for Victoria and some rubber bands and tried it out. I spent so much time on YouTube finding videos of how to do various bracelets. We had a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. Iíd pick out a color combination to go with my clothes and make a couple different styles of bracelets in those colors so I could wear them all together. We bought extra looms so we could make bracelets large enough for my wrist. I got a whole separate set of boxes for looms and rubber bands for me. I bought pony beads and sorted them by color into another storage box. We each have our own Rainbow Looms sets and weíre loving it. Hope you'll join us in this challenge.....I'd love to read something about you! Journaling reads: Not many people know this about me, but I am scared to death of taxi cab rides. Not so much the everyday cab ride in the US, but in a foreign country, I turn into a heaping bundle of nerves. I just canít see the good sense of getting into a vehicle with a stranger, neither of us speaks the others language and I canít figure out the money conversion. And then they LOCK the door. I travel with my sister and she knows this about me, so she is the take charge person, while I just pace and worry. She has gotten us through cab rides in Mexico, Greece and Egypt and we havenít been killed, not even once. But the most memorable ride was in Acapulco from our hotel to the cruise ship. We arranged for a cab with the hotel concierge and he comes to pick us up. He has very few teeth, which makes the Dental Assistant in me wonder whatís going on.... but he has a rosary hanging from the rear view mirror. I elbow my sister and say, ďThis is a good sign, surely a cabbie that has a rosary wonít kill us.Ē She just rolls her eyes. So we are weaving in and out of traffic and I whisper to her.....I am going to take a photo of the rosary......she says, ďDonít do it, it might make him madĒ I do it anyway, thatís the rebel in me. It all turned out ok and we made it to the cruise ship alive and met up with the rest of our siblings for a wonderful cruise through the Panama Canal. But, it was touch and go for awhile!
