Katie, I just have a couple of questions, I hope they are not too silly, but I never did this before. I pulled a paper on the spine, but it showed up as a really tiny square in the middle. I just enlarged it, but the resolution looks a little different than the front and back cover. Did I do something wrong here?
The other question is about the front and back cover. Do I enlarge the paper to fit the whole thing? That's what I did, is that correct. Is there anything else I have to do before sending it to Shutterfly? I just want to make sure it will look alright. Thanks

I too had problems with my spine. My problem is that it shows up as a different color than my front and back cover.


Here is the link for it. It is my first one so I am proud but it was hard. Thanks so much Katie. I would have never ever tried to do a Shutterfly photo book if it weren't for this 10 week template. I have sooooo many more photos. I can't wait for the next 10 week templates to come up... Not all my pages meet up perfectly. I might have to go back and edit them. I'm debating it...I know if I don't it will drive me crazy.

I am glad to see the comments about the spine and back not matching in color. I uploaded mine and the spine and back cover appeared much lighter than the front cover. I check them again in PS and they were definitey the same color there. So I am thinking that it must be Shutterfly's software making them appear that way. Anyone else had experience with this? Do they print out okay?

I am so sorry, I just can't figure this out. Why when I place my paper on the spine, does it show up as a 1 inch square only? It should cover the whole spine instead

Anke, I'm not sure... It will need to be enlarged just a bit, but shouldn't be showing up as a small square. Did you double check that the resolution of your paper didn't get changed? Or somehow is it re-sizing? Check at the top of the photoshop window and make sure the H: and W: both say 100%... LMK!

I am not getting this at all. I am using PSE5 at the moment and everything worked just fine except for the spine. My paper is the right size until I drag it, then it turns into a tiny square. Do you have any ideas? It was fine for the pages etc.

Anke - which direction are you dragging the paper? Maybe it's just me, but sometimes I forget and drag the paper from the bin up to my layout instead of the other way around. When I do that it shows up as a small square. (The layout should be in the bin at the bottom of the screen and the paper should be the focus in the main window when you drag. At least that is the way it works in PSE6, which I am using - not sure about PSE5)

Oh my gosh, that was it! How stupid can one be? Thanks so much, I never had that problem before. I always just drag any which way and it works. this time it didn't. Thanks again for your help!!!

You're welcome! Glad it worked for you! When I read your post I wondered because I make that mistake all the time and I was just teaching my mom how to use PSE and she kept doing the same thing! You really should be able to drag either direction. I don't know what the purpose of that small square is!

I finally finished!!! And I did what I said I wouldn't do... I went back and redid most of it... but I am glad I did... I am really happy with the result. I will post some of my favourite pages in the gallery (won't post them all b/c it ended up being about 30 pages!)

As for the question about the spines, I've never had a problem with them previewing in a different color. Make sure you turned off vivid pics on all files, maybe that would make them look different. Otherwise I would hope it's just a glitch with the preview program and they will print the same! fingers crossed!

I just wanted to let you know that my book came yesterday and I am so thrilled. I didn't realize the cover would look this pretty!! I can't believe I actually created that, LOL. Next time I will be more careful with the spine. Against what Katie had done with the template, I increased the size of the title and it is a little too large, wrapping around the front and back slightly. It's not that big a deal though. Experience! I also would decrease the size of the journaling, but I should have known that. Overall, it is beautiful!
Thanks for the coupon, Katie, I have to start on a new book now! Any suggestions? I don't have a ton of photos of a particular thing.

So glad your book arrive Anke! I got mine too and love them! I'd probably keep the journaling under 16pt depending on the x-height of the font [some are more squat than others]!
