Who said exercise was good for you?!

I just returned to my first volleyball match after having a season off. In the first set I jumped, landed awkwardly and damaged a ligament in my knee.
Blah. I am so unco on crutches!
Come to think of it, if I wasn't so unco on the volleyball court maybe I wouldn't have done my knee!

  5. Oh, no! Years ago I discovered I was unco on the volleyball court when my mind told me to move toward the ball, but, my feet remained planted where they were. Meanwhile, my teammates were jumping and diving to the floor to save balls like agile youngsters! I know they were actually relieved when I sprained my thumb while power serving and decided to hang it up. They admitted they recruited me for their team because they thought the tall mother of two very athletic sons would be athletic, but, I proved to be a disappointment! LOL!

I hope you don't need crutches for very long, Esther.

Oh Esther - that is rotten luck. So sorry you are laid up. I guess you'll be able to keep those pesky Year 9 boys in line though with your new apparatus
    Hoping you recover speedily.

No fun at all. Being a volleyball player, I have seen my share of accidents on the court. Rest up and heal quickly my friend.

Thanks everyone! My knee is improving each day. I still need to use one crutch because my knee is quite unstable and prone to giving way. Off to see the doctor tomorrow. I hope to get a knee brace so I can dispense of the crutch all together.

    "all better"?! I wish!!
I had a scan this morning which picked up some ACL damage as well as the medial ligament tear. This is no longer a novelty and I don't want to play any more!!
We are booked to go hiking in Borneo at the end of September! That is now looking dubious. I am so p'd off!

Well, dang it, girl! Now you done it! (And, man... that brings back memories for me. Did that very same thing 10 years ago. First jump warming up... bam. On the floor. Torn meniscus and completely stretched to the max ACL... and crutches for about three months. Definitely not cool! Pretty annoying, actually! And, nope... pretty much did me in for any more VB which was/is so sad. Remember, though, you're way younger than me! :d Take care, buddy... we need to run together again when I come visit! LOL Seriously, I'm bummed for you and I sure hope Borneo isn't put on hold!

Actually, the doctor has my MRI results - and phoned to tell me that I've snapped my ACL. Debi, I'm definitely much older than you were 10 years ago!

So Esther, is Allan looking at you with the same raised eyebrows that you gave him when he had the volleyball injury before going to the USA ?? Just wondering. Oh my friend I hate this for you, I don't want you to be in pain. I need to send you some of my horse gunk that works on my knees !!
