    Buying a used camera

I would love to buy a Canon Mark II, but am looking at a used one. I wonder if anyone has ever bought a used camera before and if there is anything that I should watch out for when buying used equipment?

I bought my Canon 7D second hand on eBay and have had no trouble with it. There seem to be many people who buy cameras on a whim and then decided they don't need them! So I looked to check
    a) that the camera was still under warranty
    b) that the shutter count was low
    c) that the camera was still in good condition - no dings, etc
    d) that the owner had a plausible reason for wanting to sell it - eg upgrading or downgrading or had it as a spare or it was an unwanted gift.
    e) that the owner had a good rating on eBay (that was probably #1!)

Esther - how do you check the shutter count?!? And is that something that can be reset?

No, I don't believe the shutter count can be reset. The way to check it would depend on the camera. Sorry, I don't remember, but if you google your camera model and "check shutter count" I'm sure you'll find it.
