    Wide Angle Lens

How many of you have a wide angle lens and just love it? I'm wondering if the Canon 35mm f/2 is worth it. It isn't very expensive, so that is a plus! I do have that focal length in my 24-70 lens, but it is so big I'm not sure if I want to take it on vacations this summer.

Thanks in advance for your input and and opinions!

Kim, I have ALWAYS had to have a wide angle range in order to be happy. The one I use now is a 17-50mm 2.8. I took my less expensive 18-200 lens on my Italy/Germany trip; 1. because of the wide + zoom and 2. because I wouldn't cry so much if something happened to it.

I have wanted that lens for some time, Kim. I always have to be so far back using my 50... so unfortunately it sits at home most of the time. I use the 24-70 all the time. I have wanted the 35 prime too, but wonder if I'd be happy with just that on my camera. I'm not a big lens switcher when I'm out and about.

I didn't like my 50mm on my cropped sensor but I love my 50mm 1.2 on my full frame. It seems perfect for just about everything. However, the 24-70 is much more versatile on vacation because you still have a bit of zoom. I took the 24-70 to Vegas and Disney.

I don't find I need a wide angle much. My 24-70 works when I need it.

Thanks for the input ladies!! Sometimes I just hate decisions! I may just wait and keep saving up for either a telephoto or a macro!! But then again, it's such a cheap lens....then again, I have this focal length, LOL!

Oooh decisions! I know a few people who use it as the perfect 'lifestyle' lens for indoors shots. I love the kind of shots they capture with it. I'm with Lori - I'm not big on changing my lens and so my 50mm f/1.4 sits upfront practically all of the time. The great bonus with a full frame camera, of course is that you can crop and still have a great shot!
    Now a macro.....um.........xxx
