Esther, I have been thinking about you all week, in hopes that you have your camera all dried out and working. I will be anxiously waiting, along with everyone else. It looks like to are trying some great things, so you can't say you didn't try, and with any luck, all will work.

IT WORKS!! That is a huge relief! I had put it in the back of my mind and thought it wasn't worrying me, but I now realize I've been agitated for days and suddenly feel so much better! Deep breaths....
Thanks SO MUCH for all of your advice and support! You are the bestest!

  13. So glad for you! I was so sick when I dropped my blackberry (aka as my "crackberry") in a glass of water. It worked when it dried out. I can only imagine how much more upset I would be to get my camera wet!

I summary, I put the camera on my fruit dehydrator with a cake plate lid over the top for about half an hour or so at about 45-50 degrees Celsius.

That was instead of putting it in the oven as Krysta suggested. I bought a box of desiccant called "thirsty hippo". This is the sort of thing I did: DIY Dry Box
I've read that the only danger with that is that the desiccant crystals can be corrosive so you need to make sure there is no tear in the lid. I put the desiccant and camera in a plastic tub and sealed them for four days.
Possibly there was nothing wrong with my camera in the first place... I'll never know!
