  20. Hi Ginny,
I have just been browsing the forums to find the answer to a question and saw your name. I just had to say hi. I also am Ginny from Down Under! I guess you're like me, you don't come across many other 'Ginny's?!
My question is to you but I guess to any Aussie's out there who might be reading. I am wanting to start buying here [ali edwards designs!] but I am wary of purchasing with my credit card. My husband and I have purchased things from overseas buyers in the last year or 2 and have scored an additional overseas fee from the bank (nab, we have a velocity rewards card). The last one was $7, which would seem so harsh for a $4 product that I would want to buy here!
Can anyone tell me how it works for them buying with a credit card? Would love to hear anything that might help

    Hi Ginny,

I am with CBA and I got myself a debit mastercard just for my digi shopping. It costs me about $1 - $1.50 for each transaction that I do. Its a bit much, but I just factor it in, and I only shop when there are 25c items and thrifty thursdays, that way it kinda makes up for the fee. I am waiting for some site changes that are coming that will allow you to buy a gift voucher and spend small amounts of it at a time ( I think thats how it will work). That way I can just get one international fee charge and shop for a couple of months off the gift voucher. I am hoping that is how it will work anyway.
    Welcome by the way
    Sam

Hi Ginny, I am a little north of you in QLD but wish I was back south (except for this week where your temperatures are highter than ours!) Yes the fees are pretty bad but I also just factor it in to the cost and never buy anything under USD5 total for order (fees for my bank are too high on small orders). I miss out on the 25C items here as the fees are a killer if you don't add another full price item.

This is a great site, with wonderful ladies and if you shop at the quarterly sales you can do really well. So stock up your wishlist as sales (I believe) are just around the corner.

Heck, you get charged for those transactions?!! I have an ANZ Visa and have only ever had to pay about 38c for 25c items - just the currency conversion and tiny conversion fee. What torture for you!!

  28. Thanks Sam, Carolyn, Esther, and Carol, for leaving your experiences about the banking issue. I will really need to find out from my own bank what the deal is with the card we have, I guess, it seems as if it varies from card to card.

And thanks to Ginny [samwisedesigns], I kind of hijacked your thread a little, was just excited to see some Aussies here and had to ask!

Happy Australia Day to you all

    Hi girls.

Wow I never thought to factor in fees. First time I bought something (only bought two things here) I expected to be able to use my paypal account - was a bit disappointed they didn't take paypal. I used my Amex card - will check now to see if the transactions have shown up yet.

Nope they haven't shown yet - will need to watch that.

Welcome Ginny - I'm another newbie too from downunder.
