Default How to fade photo's using Made To Remember Templates?

Figured this out! Thanks for all the help - I have purchased the Made to Remember Templates, I cannot seem to fade my pic into the background similar to what I see on pages 6-7, 7-8 and page 20 in the album by Katie on Shutterfly. I am using the identical papers she used in the album. Any ideas? Using PSE 6 Bev

I'm not sure which Shutterfly album you are referring to, but try some of the different blending modes -- you may have to experiment a little depending on your background paper. Try soft light, overlay, or multiply for starters. You might also need to play with the opacity a bit. (I'm not sure what your PSE experience is, so the blending modes are in a drop down at the top of your layers pallet; opacity has a slider to the top right of your layers pallet.)

I hope this helps, I have those templates but haven't created anything from them yet. Looking forward to seeing how it comes out, hope you'll share some of your work here.

Maybe Katie will see this and respond, but it looks to me like she opened digital paper, then dragged a full page photo on top of it. She probably applied a blending mode to the photo and maybe lowered the opacity of the photo as well.

The blending modes are above the layers palette in PSE6. Just target the photo and choose a blending mode from the menu. Different blending modes will give you different looks - I usually just experiment to find one I like. You can also lower the opacity of the layer with the Opacity Slider above the Layers palette.

This tutorial is really great and teaches you techniques for blending:

this one is terrific, too:

For my photobook using the Made to Remember Layered Template Set, I used the Destination Seaside papers and the photos on 'overlay' blend mode as well as 'color burn' blend mode! HTH!

I fell in love with Katie's book the minute I saw it and purchased the Destination Seaside papers along with the Made to Remember Layered Template Set The templates are so much fun to play with, even if you don't blend, and the layer shapes that you clip your pic to can be made larger or smaller to go with your photo (or pp), and also turned any which way. I'll have to remember to post the one's I did with the templates, of my brother and his family, - I'm such a bad girl with the posting!
