I started tagging my digital supplies in Bridge, and that was ok. Then I learned (here!) that you could have sep libraries in Iphoto! woohoo. So I did many of the ones that hadn't been done yet in Bridge.
While I like the ability of using the "Browse in Bridge" feature, I like the ease of Iphoto more. So...I'm wondering if either program will pick up the tags assigned to it by the other program. Right now, Bridge is searching a folder called Digitals which has the whole shebang, but the Iphoto library has only what was imported (and not copied in btw). My only concern with importing the whole Digitals folder, other than doing it bit by subfolder bit, is that when I don't take the duplicates, Iphoto doesn't always know 'where' the stray file should go. <--- I hope that makes sense. Can I browse the secondary Iphoto library in Bridge? All I seem to be able to do is open Iphoto via Bridge, not actually browse Iphoto IN bridge. tia, Maureen

maureen -- there is a good thread on iphoto tagging by allynD (i think i general questions). keep in mind you cant really see brushes in iphoto 09. I have iphoto 09. I was thinking about putting all my brushes in bridge -- but i cant decide.

also when you use "and" in bridge it doesnt work --i mean if you're searching for "red and ribbon" bridge doesnt recognize -- you can only search for red or ribbon... seems that iphoto lets you search for as many key words a you want.
I'm still trying to figure out iphoto -- but it does seem faster than bridge -- just cant see my brushes - bummer

I am sorry I can't help on the iphoto stuff.. my iphoto is still back at the old iphoto 6 which used a different way of filing photos and you could browse it in bridge.
If you are using the CS4 version of Bridge, there is a very easy way to create collections like different libraries. And depending on which version you are using, I can tell you different ways that you can actually so searches for red & ribbon. It is possible, just depends on which version you are using as to how to do it. |

No Heather I have the CS3 version that comes with PSE6 for Mac.
Carie, yes you can! In Bridge, you can search for more than one tag. Enter the first one, e.g. Keywords equals paper then hit the + sign and add Keywords equals blue. Then Select "match if all criteria are met". Hit Find or enter and there you go!

I use iPhoto just for my scrapbooking stuff now. I never spent time tagging in Bridge because a long time ago Cassie mentioned she had Bridge flake out on her and lost all the time she spent tagging. I find iPhoto a very stable program and it is totally visual, which is why I like it more than Bridge for scrapping stuff. My initial reaction to your question was that there is probably no way to read iPhoto tags with Bridge (Adobe) since they are from two different companies. I just opened Bridge and confirmed that-- when I try to look at the iPhoto library with Bridge, it just launches iPhoto. Sadly, if you switch to using iPhoto, there does not appear to be any way to import your tags. The thing to remember in any organizing project is to Keep It Super Simple (KISS), and you will stick with it. Complicated organizing systems always break down because we simply won't maintain them. I am not sure how you have iPhoto set up for scrapbooking. I don't understand why you say you have a secondary library. I have all my DD product folders in a larger Scrapbooking folder. When I import all my product folders (as I do whenever I accumulate a few new products), iPhoto makes each product folder a separate "event." I browse the "events" by looking at the previews for each product. I make the Preview the "key photo" for each "event." I don't know why you would have many duplicates, unless you have taken items out of the product folders they came in. I advise against that. Instead, use smart albums in iPhoto. It is so much simpler. Hope that helps.

Oy vay Lynn, maven I know! and there are many qualified ones here. That's so great.
I have the secondary IPhoto library as you suggested in your excellent original post...which I had read. I have one IP library for photos, and had started putting DD stuff in there a year or so ago but it didn't seem to be a good idea. Now I have the DD things in IP library #2. I do have the preview as Key Photo also. I do have all my digital things in a... Designer Digitals !...folder in my user accnt as their primary location on my computer. I guess it's just a decision to make and I see value in both programs for different ways of using the whole tag concept. I think I'll have to think about how I can most easily find those little tags and small elements attached to templates or kits that I know I've seen but don't remember where it was. Which program will work best for ME. Thinking... and thank you!
