Unhappy Goofy PSE 4 Mac window issue

This is making me crazy. Something happened to my PSE 4 (Mac) so that now a maximized window is tucked under the top tool bar so that I cannot see the little x in the upper left corner or the rulers. I can't grab the window and move it because the tool bar is over it. Also, the palette bin tends to flop over the tool bar part so that I can't always see the little view boxes; I have to click on the tool bar to bring that window on top in order to see the view boxes.

I think I had this trouble early on in my Elements journey, but I fixed it and it was not an issue until a week or so ago--I forget what exactly happened, a crash or something, and it's all messed up again.

I know this is probably poorly explained, but maybe someone can make sense of it and help me out?

Try resetting to the defaults by holding Shift+Control+Alt at the same time while you launch the program.

Cassie, on a Mac would that be shift-command-option or shift-control-option? I'm alt-less.
