Default uploading layouts/resizing question

Can someone walk me thru the steps to upload a picture for photo developing? (i.e., costco.com) I am trying to make birthday invitations for my son's party. I need the size of the LO is 3.25 x 4.75. When I completed the LO, I saved it as a jpg on a 4x6 canvas (so that I could crop it down), then uploaded it to Costco. However, when I went to pick up the pictures, the image was about 1/4 " too big.

I'm not sure what I did wrong. Can someone tell me how they upload a LO to be developed, if the LO itself is smaller than the standard, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10...etc?

Thanks!

ps. *this is my first post* Yay!

I haven't done a lot of uploading to online local print services for projects, just the standard 4x6 prints. I know that they will "auto crop" files that aren't exactly 4x6. It's possible that the system is "expanding" your boundaries to make sure the image bleeds to the edge. That could be why you're getting an image that's 1/4" too big. I would check with the company to ask if they have some minor expansion settings with their printing. If they do, you might just need to make your image slightly smaller.

Sorry I'm not much help. I really think the best solution would be to check with Costco as every printer is a little different.

Also . . . welcome to the DD boards!
