Question starting a project...

...and since I'm new to digi scrappin, I wanted to know when doing my layouts how do I view it in photoshop so that I know I'm making things the correct size, you know not making things too big or too small, making things uniform. For instance the font size for journaling, I wouldn't want it too big in relation to other things in the layout so that it looks weird when i print it out.

thanks,
Lolo

This is going to sound kind of silly, but I literally hold a ruler up to my screen and then enlarge/reduce the view until it's actual size. lol

Use the Cmd/Ctrl and the +/- keys to zoom in and out.

It really depends on the font. Some fonts are bigger at 12 pt than others, kwim? Generally I don't go below a double-digit font size, but I basically do the same thing . . . view the layout at actual size and see if I can read it.

Cassie that is so funny because I do the ruler thing too =) I have a printed layout in front of me to gage the size and I use the rulers and grids in photoshop. I tend to use about 10 or so fonts for journaling so I pretty much know by heart what I can get away with dealing with a particular font!

You know I did kinda figure i would probably have to print out a draft layout so i can see it...i was just trying to figure out a way around that without wasting my ink. But i am going to try that with the ruler...

That is really funny- all the years I have been scrapping digitally, I never really thought about it....
I also am a bad scrapper and seem to do minimal journaling.

I guess when I figure that the "page" is 12x12, as long as it all looks in proportion it will work out ok.

But I can see myself using a ruler!LOL

You could crop your document down to say 2 or 3 inches wide to 11 inches long and just print a segment of your layout to get a fair idea and then print greyscale which would save immensely on ink.
