Default CS4 "issues"

I am having such trouble with photoshop on my mac... did a clean uninstall and reinstall but strange things keep happening. These things have just started in the past week or so... have been using photoshop since Aug...

*when choosing type tool, it places a selection box in the top left but goes way outside the page... when I type, nothing is visible... box can't be transformed or moved...
*brush tool... will not let me use the bracket keys to resize... just types the bracket in the size box for the brush...
*with a text box selected (cmdT)... unable to move the box to a new location on the page...
*Open photos to insert into a template and they won't move beyond page center... just snap back to the same spot. When I do cmdT, they just disappear...
*When opening pages created in PS7, I seem to have problems with edits... I did load more fonts into the font book and this seems to create "issues" on my pages... I'm aware snow leopard has problems with some fonts but I deleted those listed on the website...

What is so frustrating... sometimes these things happen and other times, the program works normally. I'm new to CS4 but not a total dummy (well I certainly hope not ) but something is going on here beyond my not knowing what to do.

After reading this, it sounds like mumbo-jumbo but maybe someone out there has had sporadic problems and might have some insight... very frustrating.

Carol

The thing you described about the "snapping back into place" has happened to me recently. I just save, close PS, and reopen. That solves it. You might check to see if there's an update available to the version you have. That might fix it

for what its worth, I am having the same issues. I am CS4 on Vista 64 windows. It started yesterday and I am really annoyed with the brush-bracket thing. Did you ever find a cure? It also stopped saving my workspace after I close

Bumping this up... my text box "snapping" began again so I emailed adobe. Their response was to:
1. close PS
2. hold down shift+cmd+opt while re-launching PS - don't release keys until...
3. window appears with yes or no
4. choose yes and release buttons
5. this process resets the ps preferences

I'm not sure what all was eliminated when I did this but I do have the use of the text box once again.

Hope this is helpful... Carol
