Smile change the word size?

Help! I am a photoshop newbie. I purchased Ali Edwards holiday art package. I am trying to make "silent night holy night" smaller to fit on a 5x7 card. How to make this phrase smaller? This is a png file. Thank you!

Command-T/Control-T to get the free transform tool and then hold the shift key to keep the proportions the same as you drag a corner handle inwards to the size you want it to be. Then Enter or the check mark to commit the change.

Hi, Lori -

I'm glad you found the answer you needed here. This is a wonderful place to get your creative juices flowing. I see that you're new to Photoshop (and digital scrapbooking?), and you have found the perfect place to explore this new hobby.

If you need any help, feel free to ask questions here. You can also check out the "Getting Started" and "Tips" links at the top of this page. Be sure to download the freebies to get some practice with all the different types of products the store offers (click the challenge image in that gallery to see the freebie and download link). If you're looking for some step-by-step help with techniques or just want to create a "make and take" page to practice some new skills, be sure to check out the tutorials in the store.

Make sure you check the blog each day, too. There are always fun challenges and announcements!
It's great to have you here. I look forward to seeing your pages.

Glad you're here Lori and glad you asked. I love getting answers to questions esp if they include shortcut keys. Somehow I always forget about the shift key. A lot. ;-)

Hi Lori!

Just want to add my welcome to you to Designer Digitals. As you've probably discovered if you've purchased word art by Ali Edwards, the designers here at DD are tops in the field. I'll hope you'll consider purchasing a tutorial by Cassie Jones to help you get started. You'll learn how to create great pages and the tutorials come with supplies by Katie Pertiet for you to use.

OK... can somebody (Cassie or Heather) explain something to me... what is ALL the "shebang" about "Control-T"...??? isn't you get the same with just hitting "V" by switching to "move" tool... you get the same "transfer guards" as with "free transform tool"... in fact I CHOOSE to work with "move" tool, most of the time as default, so I CAN SEE where I am, which level/element/subject etc. ... isn't everybody... ???
So in that case I just hit "V" to get "move" tool and then you can hold "Shift" to resize proportionally or hold "Shift-Opt" to resize to center... somebody clear this up for me please... is it the same or any different... if "Ctr-T" turns your picture/word/etc. to a "Smart object" then it's understandable, but if NOT then why not just work with a "move tool"... even if you use any other tool brush, marquee, etc. it's always easier to just hit "V" for transfer... ???
Of course I hope everybody remember when working, specially with the pictures to turn them to a "Smart object" (I even set a short cut for that), 'cause the more you playing with resizing them, the more you destroy your pixels/picture quality...
