the hand won't go away

Hey there, twice now, I've been working in Photoshop (CS2) when suddenly, my tool turns into the hand and no matter what I do, I can't get it to change back into anything else. I can click on the layers palette and drag other documents onto my working document, but I can't use any other tools.

I forget how I got rid of it the first time, just now I closed out Photoshop and restarted it, but the hand was STILL there and I still can't do anything.

any help appreciated!!

Did you try hitting the space bar? Or maybe allocating more memory to PS by changing your performance preferences in the edit menu?
Sometimes working with big files causes that to happen if memory is running a bit low.
