Default I need your thoughts...

I want (actually NEED!) to take a photo class... sooooooo....

Big Picture Scrapbooking has a class starting soon taught by Barbara Carroll, $150 for 10 weeks. Jessica Sprague is now offering a 6-week class for $98 with Candice Stringham.

Both of them are great photographers and seem knowledgeable and friendly and professional... anyone take a class from either one of them before? Any thoughts?

(I have to let BPS know by tomorrow... they're holding a spot for me! )

I took a class with Candice at CKU Detroit - just love her....so fun in person. Why don't we both go to the scrapbooking photography retreat in October in CT!! (I wish)....I think personally, I would sign up for Candice's just cause I kinda know her and love her style...

probably doesn't help, but there is my 2cents

I am looking at possibly taking a course at ICP in New York, but I'm scared. I look forward to hearing what you decide to do, Debi.

I was thinking about Candice's class myself, unfortunately the dates are a little off because of some travel the next month or so. (We're anticipating the birth of our forth grandchild early in July!) Whatever you do, keep us posted, it would be great to have some feedback!

Thanks, gals! I was leaning that way for a couple of reasons... I like her videos I've seen, the class is shorter and it's less expensive!

So, I'm thinking I'll "give up my spot" in the BPS class and go w/Candice! I think sign-ups for the class start next Monday... I'd better check before I give up that spot at BPS! LOL

Thanks again!

Oh, Katrina... you KNOW I'd do that in a heartbeat if I could! Not only taking those awesome classes, but getting to spend time with YOU! I sooooooo wish I could, but it's shaping up to be a MAJOR soccer tournament August! For both kids... every weekend is booked now. Grrrrrrr...

I was sooo wanting to go to San Jose in August! Then I checked the calendar & saw that it is Labor Day weekend - & we have family coming in from GA; not a good time to be running off across the country.

So, Debi,

Did you register for the class on Jessica Sprague's website? By 20 minutes after 9 p.m. yesterday, when I thought I might be able to register, it was already full!

I guess it is like registration at a big university-- my son learned as a freshman that he had to be online and ready a couple of minutes before registration opened and hit the enter key every couple of seconds in order to register for a popular class. I didn't realize this course would be like that!

I had decided to try a course, since my husband surprised me by asking for a DSLR for Fathers Day, and now we are both having fun learning how to use it! Maybe I will be able to take this course next time if it is offered again.

Debi,
Just wondering, too, if you able to get into Candice Stringham's class? I was lucky enough to get one of her 200 slots that went at the speed of lightning! I am so excited to start next week, if you're in the class.............I'll see you there!

I was lucky enough to get in too. The class sold out within 10 minutes, it was chaos! I'm so excited to get started, I really need this class. At the moment my 'technique' is to just point, press the shutter and hope for the best! Candice is really gonna have her work cut out with me
See you in class Carrie...

I missed it too ladies. My dh and I got caught up watching 'Bucket List' and I completely forgot to pause the movie. Needless to say, by 10:30 I didn't stand a chance.

Congrats Sarah and Carrie! Can't wait to hear how you're enjoying the class. See the rest of you in September (hopefully!!!)!

Ok,
I'm following up on this thread because I said I would let everyone know how the photography class was.....now that it's all done (sniff, sniff).

Wow! First of all I can't sing Candice Stringham's praises enough! I feel so comfortable with my camera now, I can't believe it. I don't have to shoot in Auto anymore! This class have given me so much freedom with my picture taking, I love it!

I would highly recommend this class for anyone looking to learn more about their DSLR and photography. Candice is a great teacher and was on-line quite a bit to answers questions and give advise.

I really love digi scrapping and for me personally, I may not be the greatest designer, but I feel that a great photo that I'm happy with is what is important to me on my pages. I will definitely sign up for more classes from Candice again...........with my mouse at the ready.

Carrie

Thanks for following up Carrie! It sounds like a fabulous class. I would love to get some constructive feedback and get more comfortable with my camera. I'm definitely going to try to get in this time around!
