I think we'll have an assignment each week - toward the weekend. Katrina is awesome about keeping us on our toes and choosing great assignements - so it will be fun! The other days you just post a random photo from your day. We'll be practicing our skills, but are not wrapped up in perfection. Learning and sharing is what it's all about. A photo diary of sorts.

I joined yesterday as well! In 2007 I took a picture every single day, never missed, and it was hard, but I am ready to give it a whirl again, just for April... I really struggle with a daily picture in the winter/dark months, because indoors only affords so many opportunities, so maybe I can manage this month...We shall see!

Joey --
I set my photos to public and I do a lot of doctoring ![]() We are really flexible (and nice) about the group. Try to post one photo per day when you can of anything you want to take photos of. I sometimes just grab a photo with my camera phone so that I can get a photo in for the day. It in no way means you have to take the most spectacular photos every day or 100 in a day to get one great one! We are in this for the practice and through clicking the shutter each day most of us discover/learn things that make us better photographers! |

Can I just say that the photos up there are fabulous and I am totally outclassed and inspired?

dont be silly Laura! theres no outclassing
![]() try and be random with your pictures... that way it makes it awesome to group your whole months shots together at the end and see what you did/where you went/what you got etc. I take photos everyday, and I def dont choose my 'best' one for my POTD. Just the one that sums up my day a little more. ![]() set your photos public and you will meet lots of nice other people too... often groups who would like your photos in their group too. or add a friendly comment, or ali edwards could pick you for her flickr round up thing she does sometimes!

I posted my pic from yesterday with a question abuot the noise in the shot and that it may have been b/c of my camera settings due to not wanting to use a flash. Katrina suggested I make the camera settings public so you all could see the metadata and make recommendations. I've been trying to find how do make that setting public. Is this something I do on the Flickr website or is it done during the upload process? I use FlickrExport to export my photos from iPhoto directly to Flickr.
In the meantime, I looked at the info on the pic. I had the shutterspeed set to 1/125 because when it was lower i was getting some camera shake. Trying to hold a big book with one hand and take a pic with another was a balancing act! The aperture was 1.8. I have my camera set to Auto ISO and I noticed that it bumped up to 1600 for this shot. I bet that could have been the culprit?? Here's my Pic on Flickr. Thanks! This has been really fun and inspiring. I have even challenged some of my family and friends (who don't do digital scrapbooking) to participate and created a separate album on my .Mac web gallery where they can upload their pictures as well! :-D They love it. My stepmother bought my D40 from me when I upgraded and now she is using it more and more!

Glad you posted K!
I think you will need to go into your flickr account to set the metadata. Go to the You Tab, Select Your Account, Change Hide Your Exif Data to Yes (about halfway down) I loved that shot. I think the blurriness may have been your aperture since your focal point with an aperture of 1.8 is really narrow. It looks like the focus fell on the book and then blurred you. (I was impressed that you could balance and shoot. |

Thanks! I've got it changed now. Thanks for the help!
