Default 365 for kids?

I'm not sure if this will last or not, but right now Jake wants to participate in 365. He's promised to journal online once a day at Oh Life (hello typing lessons!). I promised we would turn his project into a little square 7 x 7 hardcover Blurb book. I'm sure he'll miss days here and there, but it will be a lesson on finishing projects. I hope.

Anyone else doing this with their kids? I would love to hear how it goes for everyone.

That is an awesome idea Myra. I hadn't thought about it for my kids. Julia loves to take pictures. She could use the extra practice with journaling a bit too. Hmmmmm... might be a bit much for her at just seven. But, maybe a weekly shot.

Thanks for the idea! Off to see what she thinks about it

I know my daughter wouldn't have the stay-with-it to commit to something like this, but I sure could involve her in my project. On days when I don't have a picture, I could give her my camera and tell her to go find something to take a picture of. I bet it would be fascinating to see my world through her eyes! Thanks for the inspiration.

My daughter is in her last year of high school. She decided to take photos of places in the school which remind her of events....she met Sam on the steps on her first day, the hallway where they study....She has some journalling as she has always kept a journal. Not sure what form it will take, but it will document the journey. She is on the yearbook committee and has taken almost 200 photos with my camera, so far. I'm hoping to convince her to make it into a book. We'll see.

Myra, I'll have to dig out a link when I get on my computer (am on my iPad at the moment) but I had a friend who had her son around Jakes age do it, and he had a blog which he posted his photos on, so his relatives and mum and friends could see his photos. I don't know if he had them printed but I thought it was a great online experience for him to display his photos.

I think that's awesome Myra!! Cade is a huge supporter of my "photo a day" project and got his own camera for Christmas. I'm sure it won't be long before he wants to participate, too.

The boys and I are doing Project Life together during school hours. So they will be doing much of the journaling - I am so excited about this... Here is my title page...
Each section was printed 4 x 6 at my local lab. I just bought the cheapest page protectors from Hobby Lobby. We are going to have lots of fun working on this hybrid project together. I am already looking forward to having their own writing in this album!

Amy!

Brilliant IDEA! I didn't want to spend lots of money when I have all these supplies, but I wasn't quite sure how to put it together. Now you've really got me thinking. Since is Jacob is doing p365, I was trying find an easy alternative for my 6 and 8 year olds. They take pictures too, and definitely have a story to tell.

One of my boys got a camera for Christmas, and I can't believe the energy it brings out in him when he gets to take photos! I think 365 may be too much, but I think a picture a week would be wonderful for him to work on.

myra, sounds like a fabulous idea! and amy, i love that you are incorporating it into school time. i'm trying to figure out how to make my digital 365 album into more of a project life-y style (i live overseas and don't have access to fun supplies) so that my kiddos can add to it somehow too. i would be curious to see some of your boys' work and Jake's work in the gallery!
