Default Editing a picture in pse

Hi. I am working on a layout from my parents 50th anniversary. The picture I have of my nephew needs some work. He was black hair and the light from a window has given part of his hair a blue tint. Any ideas on how I can get rid of this blue without messing up the coloring in the rest of the picture. Otherwise the coloring is good on the picture, just the light reflecting on the hair is the problem. I have pse7.

Thanks for any ideas.

First, I would duplicate the photo layer to keep the original untouched. Then I would play with the hue/saturation adjustments. You might try using the Lasso tool or the Magic Wand tool to make a selection of the blue area. Then you can type Cmd/Ctrl-U to bring up the Hue/Sat adjustment dialog box. Use the drop down to select Cyan and drag the saturation slider to the left. If that doesn't work, try selecting Blue from the drop down menu and reduce the saturation. Just a thought.

With one of my daughter's photos, where she had a very bleached highlight. I used this method:

1) select your forground color to be the "correct" hair color
2) add a new layer above your photo
3) brush over the blue area
4) change the blend mode and/or the opacity of the brushed layer so that the original hair texture shows through - you might have to play a little with this step.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I tried both ideas and actually it works best if I do both. Decrease saturation first and then paint over with a color to match the rest of his hair.

Thanks!
