Default Senior shoot

A friend of mine has asked me to do her daughter's senior pictures. I won't get paid, but I was thrilled she asked me anyway I have never done a shoot of anybody for anything, so any suggestions would be so appreciated. She thinks I take great pictures Isn't that awesome? Are there any good blogs for inspiration. Since I didn't grow up in the country I am not really familiar with senior shoots, but I guess anything pretty much goes, right? Anyway, if you hav any suggestions, I would appreciate them!

Go to flickr & do a search on groups for senior photos - there are several senior photo groups & you can get tons of ideas and can see what is really popular right now - also drive around where you will be taking the pics - look for any interesting textures and colors (such as walls & doors) to use as backgrounds - look for arches, anything that will help you establish lines in your photos - One of my fav places to shoot senior photos - under the stands at the football field - you don't have to worry about direct sun and you can get some great lines - be sure that none of the lines look like they are coming out of the head though. Good luck!

I've never done this, of course, but, I think it would be good to ask the mother and the senior if they have an idea of what kind of shoot they'd like....formal or informal, portrait or outdoor casual, etc. Can they show you an example of something they like? If not, maybe you could show them some examples.

also, be sure to check out Nana Z (Zalaine's) gallery. She does senior shoots so some of her pages in her gallery are the results. She seems to be really good at putting young people completely at ease because she gets such relaxed neat photos. She chooses cool locations, too.

I'm certainly not surprised they asked you...I'd jump at the oppotunity to have you photograph my kids...you are amazing with the camera (and the computer). I know you'll do great....sorry, no tips though. Can't wait to see some photos from the shoot though!

How fun is that!! Good for you . I'd look up at FLickr for sure, but then I would also look up photographers and check out their blogs/sites to look for poses.

Good luck!!

I'll pm you a private gallery for a few of my favorite senior photos if you'd like. Take a look at Kim Weiss' Fresh Art photography pages too.
