Unhappy I dropped my camera (again) but this time...

... the autofocus on my lens is broken. It focusses so far and then it grinds. It only works if I get close by manually focus first. This is my Tamron f2.8 lens that I already sent away to have a manufacturing fault repaired. Aggh! Do you think it'll fix itself if I give it a sleep?! Should I shake it or kick it or threaten it?! And if that doesn't work, do I throw it away or get it fixed?! My mother always told me I was careless....

I just read your email, I am horrified for you. Definitely sleep on it. Think rationally. Find out in the morning which way to jump.

You poor thing! I'd be so upset if that were my lens. Sleep on it and consider your options...something will leap out. Don't be too hard on yourself!

I am so sorry. I know that sick feeling (but the lens I broke was my cheapest). Wish I could make it all better!

Oh, Esther, I'm so sorry this happened. Is there a camera store nearby that you trust to give you advice about fixing it?

Oh No what a bummer!!
If it still has a warranty I would consider sending it away to get fixed. It worked for my lens.
The really really really good thing is that your camera works just fine after the fall!!

Oh that's so sad! That's the danger we all face with our expensive toys isn't it. I'm always terrified something is going to put mine out of commission. I wish you the best of luck on your repair!

I can only try to imagine your heart break at damaging an expensive lens.

It's so hard to be careful all the time....we're only human!

Sorry, Esther! I hope there is an easy and inexpensive FIX!

Thanks so much! You are all very understanding. I haven't yet decided what to do about it! I think I bit of me was hoping someone would say "Oh, that happened to me and all you have to do to fix it is...". And a sleep didn't make the problem go away, either!
