Default Lightroom 3 available - are you upgrading?

So, Lightroom 3 is available... Who is upgrading? And from what?

I am debating! Downloaded the trial last night and going to do some digging. Have LR2 so it will only cost $99 for the upgrade. Anybody else have a strong opinion either way?TIA...

I'm on the fence for the moment, too. But I've downloaded the trial, to check it out.

...And being a student, it's only $99 if you're buying for the first time, too.

So annoying, I just purchased V 2 three weeks ago...so no, it will be a while before I can afford to jump to V3. Wishing I had paid more attention to the release date of V 3 now...ah well...

Uploading is FAST. Noise removal is excellent. The interface seems to work smoother than LR2.

You don't have a category for me to vote.

I will be purchasing Lightroom 3 for the first time after using the Beta 3 version for a couple of months. I love it!!!

Adobe is usually very customer friendly about these things. I purchased CS3 about 3 weeks before CS4 came, and they gave me CS4 for free. Send them an email and ask politely, and I think you'll be surprised at how nice they are. I think they have a 3-4 weeks "free upgrade" (or maybe more, I'm not sure) period.

Sorry about the missing category! I should have had a "Don't know" as well I think. Oh, well, my first time posting a poll. I will do better next time.

LOL, no problem, I just wanted to add that I would be a first time buyer. (I don't qualify as a student, of course, so, I'll have to come up with the full price. I think it is worth it, though!)

I've been using the beta as well, and like it, so I'll probably upgrade as well.

Mine's on order. I had been playing in the beta version and downloaded the free trial while I wait for mine to show up. The noise reduction is awesome, but the thing I love the best is the flickr integration! I can upload straight to flickr from lightroom and then open flickr and send to the DD group and upload to my blog in two seconds flat. I don't know how uploading to flickr is faster, but it is. Same size photo takes way longer using the regular old uploader. : )

I will also add as a funny side note, the adobe banner along the top keeps telling you to buy the all new lightroom 2. How funny. : )

Definitely as soon as it is available for sale in Australia at academic price. Adobe never release academic version at the start here. Not sure why???

Anxela, thanks for the info re Adobe - I called them this morning and they are going to "look at the details of my case" and get back to me. Fingers crossed they let me upgrade to 3! As my mum would have said "you won't get if you don't ask"!
Thanks

Yeah! Adobe just emailed me to say they will let me upgrade to 3 for free as I had just purchased and registered V2 three weeks ago! Ok, so now now my answer to the original question is "YES from version 2"! Thanks again anxela for suggesting I contact them.

I had LR1 and then LR2. I just bought CS5 and I am wondering if LR3 has any advantages over the CS5 Camera Raw. I am going to have to do some research to decide. I do get the academic discount so it is only $100.

Ok, I did it. it was ?69 (student edition), and after I downloaded the trial, I drooled every time I opened it. So I jumped in. Haven't regretted so far.

I have had both version 1 and 2 but I just got CS5. I think that I will wait until LR4 because the photo correction in the new camera raw is so similar to LR3 and I still really like LR2. I do get academic discount but I need to play some more with CS5 before I try LR3.

I still don't know. LOL I need some handholding here.
I tried the beta version and loved it...but then I used Randy suggestion and used camera raw and for my needs it works ok.
I really really need to organize my photos in a better way than just iPhoto and perhaps that's why I should get lightroom to catalogue my photos.
Hmm. Still on the fence.
