Default tips for underwater photography

Does anyone have any?

I am cage dive "snorkling" - and i have got an underwater housing etc but what basics can anyone tell me?

It could be sharks or small fish.

So - anyone ? what lenses? what apertures? flash tricks? colours ? exposures?

Just throwing it out here cos I am sure someone has done it.

Thanks so much.

Tips? Yikes, I'm just impressed at how brave you are. Good luck with it, will be looking forward to seeing the photos scrapped.

I've never done it, but my go-to site for photography tips and techniques is dgrin. I'm sure you can search the forums and find a ton of people who have posted underwater shots and their tips.

I don't know much, but have a friend who does alot. Get your flash off of your camera onto a bracket if you are able. Shoot with a wide angle lens to overcome the reflective nature under water.

On a personal note, I love the shots that you take looking up with the sunlight flaring through the water.

Best of luck my friend!

Back to add, I was just reading to meter on a neutral area of your subject, rather than the blue of the water. Again. Just read it. No experience.

My only tip: Keep your elbows in. Sharks like people.
