LR question

Ok Lightroom Gurus I need your help. I hope I can explain this in an easy to understand way.

When I am done with my LR adjustments, and I want to export just one or a few photos to PS to do more adjustments. IT automatically creates ANOTHER image in LR and either adds it to the end or 'stacks' It right next to the original. Somehow on my laptop, I changed something to where it doesnt create this second image. And now I want to change it on my desktop.

I am sure there is a reason they do this second copy thing...but to me it just clogs up my LR catalog.

Anyone know?

Yes, and that is fine...but is there a way for that NOT to show up in LR? Am I making sense??
It either adds it to the end of the filmstrip or right next to the original ( if I choose stack with original)

But somehow I got my laptop one, not to create this extra image in LR.

I don't know of a way to not get them to show up except use Lightroom 3 It does make me wonder how you worked it out on your laptop.

An easy way to delete them in LR2 to create a Smart Collection with the only parameter file type - psd. Then you can just quickly delete the contents of the smart collection from time to time to clean up the muck.

Are you telling me this isn't an issue in LR3?????? Oh geez, now Im going to have to convince Hubby I need CS5, LR3, and a new camera??? (I'm sneaking in that epiphanie bag without a word )

I dont know how it happened on my laptop either, one day it just stopped happening. I just tried it again and they DO not show up....weird.

Not an issue You can still download the Beta and use it until the real one comes out.

I'll keep searching LR2 and see if I can figure it out Bailey. I use both LR2 and LR2, dependent upon my mood

Bailey, you can download and use the beta version of LR3 until June, I believe. So now you don't have to tell hubby about that either! (I applaud your sharp maneuver with the Epiphanie bag!)

OK....so in my searching...I think I have figured out that my LR on my laptop is glitching since i never upgraded from 2.0 (even though it's free, Im just lazy about that stuff). I just happen to LIKE the glitch I guess.
What happens is, on my laptop, I chose 'edit in' and the .nef goes into PS. NOT a psd
then after I do my edits, I save it as a .psd

I suppose Im just going to have to figure out a new system for my workflow that works to where I am not creating so many duplicates and have myself so confused.
Organization is NOT my strong suit
