I've been trying to figure this out too. Can't wait to see what answers you get.

I use a laptop. Have you ever printed out some photos or a layout so you can check how light or dark they are? Even though I upload my layouts to Shutterfly for printing in albums, every so often I print out a layout on my home printer, just to check. Through a little bit of trial and error, I've learned I need to lighten up my pics and pages just a touch from what I see on the screen.
If there is some more scientific way to do this, I'd like to learn, too. Oh, and, I calibrate my monitor, too. I found the directions to do that under Help in my Finder. I'm on a Mac.

The problem is that I literally work on my lap...so the screen is always at different angles. So a photo or page I work on in the morning can look very different later when I'm sitting differently or thescreen is tilted differently.
Maybe I need to always move to a desktop monitor before printing? |

Since I use a tablet and pen I am always at my desk and hooked up to my printer. (no little ones around so I retreat to my desk!)
That might be a good idea to have one common place and tilt of the screen that you use before you actually print.
