OK is this a truth or dare thread?

I haven't looked in my LR now (and will0 but it doesn't really count as I backup photos to the EHD and then delete of my mac.

But I will tell you a secret - I had my D200 for 2.5 years and upgraded to the d700. took it in for service and the guy said mmmm i see u have done a bit of photography. I said oh can u see? he said :" 67 000" clicks. EEEEK so now I get why we have 3 x TB EHD.

But shhhhhhhhhhh

LOL Sam!

I am loving that all you ladies have taken so many. It helps me convince Mike that I am not hopeless taking so many shots. He thinks I lived the weekend on continuous shooting to be able to take just over 1000 photos on the trip when in reality, I was actually dialing it back from my usual snapping habits now.

How much will LR hold? For some reason, I thought the limit was 1,000.

Wow, reading this I don't feel so bad. I went digital full time in 2002, but had a point and shoot digital going back to 2000. I'm at 23097.

I've got 15000 photos in one catalogue in addition to about 10 other catalogues for specific shoots for other people. I don't believe there is a limit. LR only really holds a thumbnail mapped to the original photo.

I have read that around 10,000 photos in one catalog is about the maximum before you start noticing a slow down in performance but don't believe there is any actual maximum.

I too am in this boat. I haven't scanned any old photos yet either. I do delete some of the bad photos, but not if they're the only photo of the event.

I had my nephew up a few weekend's ago and he wanted copies of the photos I had taken during his trip here. He handed me a 2g flash drive. This would fit Thursday & Friday photos, but Saturday's photos alone where close to 3gb.

Light weights! I have enough photos to fill 3-10 DVDs every month. I agree many are not stellar, but I can't delete them! They are my children. Often, I go back and see a photo that I did not care for at the time, but it becomes a favorite at a later point. I have just now learned about (minimally) tagging the photos....any suggestions on how to catch up with organization? I have PSE7 but am considering LR. I organize everything by month now and each year has it's own 500 GB hard drive dedicated to it.

O my goodness! I have been out of town for a week and I can't believe this thread is still going. Nothing more interesting than true confessions....

I shot a lot of photos this week of the town where I grew up. Not thousands, though. Just about a hundred.

I have 22,040 photos in my Flickr-account...
But I guess my digi-total is somewhere around twice that...

15,987 after some culling. I tend to put all the so-so ones in a folder, then burn that folder to a DVD. That way I have them because most are of family and you never know when one of them would like one I thought was just ho-hum. Also, my husband has discovered digital and has moved from the Ansel Adams philosphy to shooting 649 pictures in Bryce Canyon in 1 day. I would love to buy the EHD. Maybe for Christmas?
