Default broken lens?

I don't know what happened to my 55-200, last night it didn't want to focus for me anymore and then I couldn't extend it plus I hear something rattling inside. what the heck could have happened? And what do I do with it? Where do they fix lenses? What a bummer!

Ugg, so sorry to hear that! I have no idea what could have happened but it must have been the odd mojo of yesterday going around as I have no idea how our new ceiling fan decided to short out at the control panel either but it did.

I would look at sending the lens directly back to the manufacturer for repair. They know the lenses the best and usually are set up to handle that stuff whether it is in or out of warranty.

Years ago when I had a Canon camcorder need to go back for repair and had a big trip coming up, they were even accommodating to give me a loaner piece of equipment to use while mine was being serviced. It never hurts to ask and the manufacturer is in a much better position to give you a loaner to use while you wait. We had to sign documents that if we didn't return it, then we would be charged $X but that was fine to at least have something to use while we waited.

Bummer! What kind of lens is it? I broke a nikon lens a couple weeks ago (fell off a bike with the camera while on vacation I was lucky that my camera didn't break and I had another lens back at our hotel. Anyhow, I sent it to Nikon and they are repairing it - All the directions are listed on their website. Maybe next time a point and shoot might be a better idea while biking
