He's headquartered in Oldsmar, which is right in the neighborhood. I signed up for his buddy RC's walk. It was interesting.

Sorry we got separated Kerry! It seemed that there was a corner in our walk which ate a lot of people... were all pretty close together and then boom, it was like everyone was on their own all over the place but out of site of each other. We didn't find many more people until the get together at the restaurant at the end.

It was a good walk and we met some interesting people. Mike learned that he loves my monopod as a walking stick and to steady his little itty bitty p&s camera.. it was too funny to see him using it with his teeny camera but it kept him entertained and happy... not sure I will ever get it back either.. but he took more photos today than he has probably taken in the last 2-3 years combined... he photographed every restaurant or eating establishment along the route.

About to transfer my photos and see what I got... one has me very intrigued to see on the big screen & hope it really looks as cool as on the lcd... the sunflare looked like a ! above the scene... no clue how I got it but hoping it really does look as cool in big reality.

Doris - if you knew me, you'd understand that I am not the type to be the center of attention. But it would seem that I had selected a tee in the perfect shade of blue. It was just right for a backdrop against a hot pink grunge wall. I suddenly found myself being a model for a large group of photographers. It continued with a peach wall, and it became the standing joke of the photowalk. I'm not the model type, but had to smile and pose and WALK while RC taught lighting techniques! I hope I was a good sport. I guess Linda can be the judge.

Katrina, sorry it didn't work out for you! That is a bummer, but at least Ian got to sleep. San Antonio next?

Oooo Myra! Your walk sounds fantastic! and I bet they picked you for more reasons than just the shade of your tee. You make a great model!

I felt so lost a lot of our walk... no direction/interaction much... cool surroundings but photographing urban buildings is not something I know how to do nor really know what of them I should be looking at... to me, they usually just look like cool buildings but I photograph them and they look boring.

OMG Myra that's pretty funny. My guess is that your shirt color was important but that the fact you're a babe and a good sport were the reason you were picked. I would have asked for a modeling fee!!

Would love to see the shots!

Aino, your shots are incredible!!

Myra is too modest. She looked great against that pink wall, and you'll see the picture as soon as I get my 365 page finished for this week. I think by the end of the walk, RC had a bit of a crush on her!

What she didn't tell you was that we were at the marina taking photos of an approaching storm when it finished approaching and starting pelting us with rain. We had to run for cover and wait it out. Of course, by then my hair was sticking out in all directions, and the humidity was unbelievable. My first stop when we got back to the hotel was the shower. Boy, did that feel good!

Aino, your pictures are fascinating---I'll have to slow down and take a look at them again later!

I can't to see everyone else's. We didn't have a walk near me here in Louisiana, so I did one on my own back at the beginning of July in my hometown.

I didn't get started until 7, and before 9 had lost the good light, so I quit. I was sad that I didn't have anyone to walk with, particularly someone who could tell me what to look for, and help me see things I wanted to see. I tried to see the city like someone who had never been there before, but there was just too much and I was a bit overwhelmed. I learned a lot about what to look for and how to "do" it. The shot at the end was almost a tragedy---I was driving home in my Mom's Miata, top down, and I thought, I'll snap a picture of the road going by. But I forgot about the WIND that is blowing over a convertible and as I raised my hand to snap the picture, the wind almost took my camera clean out of my hand. That was my stupid moment for the day!

Also, it was trash day for the city. A major inconvenience, as I couldn't compose a lot of shots because of recycle bins and trash cans in the way. It was too early for the city to be bustling, and instead of people and interesting happenings, the streets were covered with delivery trucks for stores and restaurants. I haven't fixed all the photos yet, either, you can see the dust on my sensor in a few, and the horizon is crooked in a few.

I'm looking forward to doing another one of these, and I might try one of San Antonio when we're there next month. (Doing a quicky vacation to SeaWorld, the Alamo . . . if you have any recommendations for what to do there, send me a PM!)

Well Sam and Happy Feet (Aino)... you brought a smile to my face. I felt like I was with you on your photo walk by just viewing your lovely shots. What fun. I'm hoping to find a very early morning soon where I can head out and do my own Walk de 'Hood... There's always something lurking around the corner just waiting to be photographed. I'm just bummed I had to miss my chance for the walk in the Park Sat. Thanks for sharing your fun day.

I found myself looking up for a good deal of our walk! I also met some fun, interesting people along the way. Here are a few of my pics from the day:

Met some great folks at the Akron walk. We took the Cuyahoga Valley RR to Brecksville Res. Five of us wandered around shooting the bridges (one cool rusty iron, one frilly painted iron, and the high, arched Rt. 82 bridge). Cyclists everywhere, and an intrepid wedding party getting their photos at the frilly bridge. And, yes, the groom and groomsmen were climbing up the bridge with the girls egging them on.

It wasn't terribly well organized, but fun all the same

I really enjoyed your photos, Sam, Kerry and Aino. Cute story Myra, you are beautiful! Go ahead an embrace your "Queen for the Day"...lol. I'm kind of bummed now that I was a chicken and didn't sign up for a walk. Maybe I would have learned a thing or two! Glad you ladies had a good time can't wait to see more photos!

Such interesting stories and wonderful photographs. I admire how talented you all are and how fascinating other parts of the world can be. I finally got to meet Barb Hogan, another digital scrapbooker from Cincinnati. The weather was great! Our leader was David Ziser. We walked for a couple of hours and at the end ate at a restaurant. There we were able to chat more and discuss photography. One woman was upset at all of us (50) for taking pictures and felt we were disturbing her privacy. Apparently we were locusts! The highlight of our day was when we met Bronson Arroyo, a Cincinnati Reds baseball player. He had come outside to walk his dog. We were on the tail end of the walk, so he wasn't bombarded with the "paparazzi". Bronson did try to look inconspicuous and kept looking down. I took his picture anyway.

Hehe, great story Kris. We also had one guy on our walk who got very upset over someone taking his picture when they actually weren't but he was in the general direction of the shot they were taking on a busy street. The photographer in question directed him to our leader who I guess had a busier day than he had planned but dealt with it swiftly and nicely and in a few minutes, the guy was on his way.. not angry but still pouting over all of us...

I walked in New Haven, Connecticut, which, thanks mostly to Yale University, has great architecture. I don't think I'm really an architecture person, but I had a good time anyway. A selection of my pics from the day is on Flickr here.

It sounds like you all had a lot of fun. It is so interesting to see what you all took photos of and to see a glimpse of your areas.
I walked in Stillwater, MN just over the border from WI. The walk was nice most people were there in groups of 2 or 3, so I ended up walking by myself, but that was really nice. As the SAHM of two preschoolers I am rarely alone so the chance to take photos of whatever I wanted for as long as I wanted was wonderful. Here is my photostream from the walk if you would like to take a look
