Default Just Got Lightroom!

My DS bought me Lightroom-- it was a belated birthday present. It just arrived and I am excited!

(With the educational discount business, I had to wait to send in my documentation and have a CD shipped to me.)

So... my plan for this summer is to try to improve my photography skills (that shouldn't be hard, since they are just at the snapshot level now), and to learn to use Lightroom.

Other than jumping right in and playing around with it, how do you all recommend learning Lightroom? Should I get the Scott Kelby book?

Lynn

Oh wow !! What a nice gift! Congratulations - LR will change your photography - I guarantee it! I recommend just playing around with it - download some presets - have fun. It is a powerful tool.

(There are thread around here with great links for presets, if you can't find them, I will post some of my favorites).

I watched tutorials on adobe's website that got me started. Lots of info out there and it is an amazing program. I don't know what I did without it!

I registered, but know not of anything called Lynda 1 month free.... I will go to Adobe and look for this! Thanks! I just started poking about the Adobe website to see what's available.

Happy belated! I think it just depends on your learning process. I learn by doing, so that's how I learned Photoshop and Lightroom, just messing around until I had it all figured out.

There are some awesome Presets out there for LR too! (Think Actions for Photoshop) Have fun with it

I bought Kelby's book and love it. I am already able to do so much more with my photos and I'm not even halfway through it yet!

I already love it! I have been working on some old B&Ws that I used in my DH's album here: Another for DH - Digital Scrapbooking Ideas - DesignerDigitals. I was really happy with the results, even though I literally have no idea what I am doing with LR yet-- if it comes out looking good, it is truly just a happy accident so far!

I found Lynda.com and plan to investigate that once I have finished looking at some of the Adobe videos. Thanks to all for your suggestions!
