Scott Kelby is having his 2nd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk on July 18th. Click to see if your city is participating.
I wasn't able to do it last year. But a friend of mine did and made friends with alot of local photographers. Sounds like fun to me. I hope several of you get to participate.

Does anyone know if this is just for professional photographers or would a hobbyist like me have fun as well?
Has anyone done it before? I checked out the site and I'm still not exactly sure how it works... Jackie

Whoowho, A walk in my area has finally been posted. I'm in.
Jackie, I have never done a walk before, but I'm pretty sure it's for anyone reguardless of your photography skill. It looks like a lot of fun and I think it would be a great learning experience.

The Cincinnati walk has finally been posted. I wasn't able to go last year. Our leader has a link to contact him personally. Look at your city and underneath the leaders photo there should be a "contact me" link. I would think there would be a wide variety of photographers with different experiences. It would be a great way to meet other people who share your passion, network and get advice. I can't wait to see my DD friends photos and hear their experiences. Happy Shooting!

I don't have a Walk near me (wasn't a big surprise!)---and the one near my hometown, I'm going to miss.
So I decided to do a Walk by myself (sniff, sniff!) in Annapolis while I'm visiting my parents. If I have time I might get to do Baltimore, too. I've never done one, and I wonder . . . what do you take pictures of? My goal is to take pictures as though I were a tourist, to see the city fresh through new eyes. I grew up there, it's so familiar, but I want to do a scrapbook with nothing but pictures of the city, for my kids, who don't spend much time there. I plan on getting up before dawn (yeah, right!) and I have a rough route in my head. But I just can't filter everything through a first-time visitor's perspective. Does anyone have advice of what to take pictures of? And how to walk through a city so you're working with the light? (For instance, the city docks face east, so I plan to be there at daybreak, but how do you work with the light as the day goes on? Are buildings better in the bright light, with the hard shadows?) If anyone is in that area and might be interested (I'll be there June 23-July 3) PM me. But I'd love advice on how to strategize a Walk. Thanks! Sarah

Sarah, I've not done a formal guided photowalk before, but I've done it on my own and just kept my eyes open for anything interesting to photograph. I've signed up for the New Haven, Connecticut, photowalk, and the walk leader posted recently with a few pictures he took while mapping a route here. He is scheduling the walk for the evening to avoid the harsh light they had last year, which sounds smart to me.
