Default Heading Outdoors Help

I am getting my older kids from school early and we are heading to the country for pictures - so it will be mid - late afternoon and then towards sunset. The bluebonnets are in full bloom and I always shoot them out there this time of year - usually in mid morning with real harsh light - its slightly overcast here today -so i think afternoon will be okay
<<<ANY POINTERS>>> please....
I have these lenses:
18-55, 75-300 & my 28-105

In the evening I might try some backlighting if the sun peeks out. Then you would need a fill-flash or reflector to bounce some light back onto their faces. Maybe a ladder and have them lay down in the flowers and shoot from above. And some close-ups of course, with your widest F-stop to blur the background into a nice soft purple. I lived in Texas before kids and I have some snapshots of my husband and me that are fun. That is an amazing site, fields full of bluebonnets! Have fun!

Sarah - we are all anxiously awaiting your results! :-) Bluebonnets are an awesome backdrop and I'm sure the pictures turned out great.

The 'Golden Hour': approx. one hour before the sun sets, will give a beautiful sort of light!
