I think I would call Epson support! I don't think you are doing anything wrong.

I think that you should call Epson too. It sounds as though something isn't right with yours. I have the R 1900 too and have had no problems with mine.

Oh, you know, Jaime, my friend has the R1800 (I think) and hers hasn't worked in two years. It keeps telling her paper is misfed, but the rollers never engage to grab the paper. I've worked on it and worked on it. Loading one or multiple sheets shouldn't matter. I think you should call/email Epson and see what they say. It seems their sensors are kind of twitchy.

I would definitely call Epson!!! I just got a 1400 (which I think is a lesser model) and it is perfect. I love it. I just printed out all my valentine cards, envelopes and my mom's 8X8 Disney book. CALL EPSON! Something is not right.

All this with the R1800 and R1900 sounds like printer driver problems with the MAC. Do you have macs? I had this problem with the R1800 and all I did was go to Epson online and downloaded the newest drivers for the printer. It worked. The drivers that come with the printers are sometimes already dated. Especially with Macs. Even if you don't have a Mac, I highly suggest you still do this. Only issues I have now is if my prints sits for months without having been used, I get the problem again and all I do is shut the printer off, restart my computer and fixed.
