Default 365-In a Pinch List....

This thread makes a very good point, we need a "in a pinch list" So post some ideas of what to photograph when its 11pm and you realize you haven't snapped one yet....

Your shoes, kids shoes, favorite shoes at the time
Your favorite place in the house
The mess left in my house....
A book you are reading at the time, your kids favorite book
your kids favorite toy, or a toy that has meaning (hand me down, gift, etc)
Appliances-this might be interesting for future generations
Favorite brands (ie, ketchup, mustard, dish soap, shampoo...this list could go on)
Favorite decoration in your house

I am interested to see what everyone comes up with, this will be a HUGE help!! I am already inspired just by brainstorming!! Thanks for the great Idea Donitab!

There is a Becky Higgins pdf form here: http://www.creatingkeepsakes.com/ima...9/365ideas.pdf

I think I like the list format best though. I have it somewhere on my computer, but can't find it - that's how organized I am!
I'll wait for Mary's list.

That's a great idea Mary - I might do the same, it is a pretty list! I was sure I had another in list form, but can't seem to find it. It could be from some other source.

I like the inspiration of the CK list, but so many of them---a large percentage---are just photos that I couldn't do. Either they don't apply to the weather here, or the location. I printed it out and will take all the ideas I can (it's a great jump-start list) but I think I'm going to scribble down my own list, as well, and keep it in my camera bag.

I saw a website a while back that had all the "national" holidays. I think almost every day of the year is a "holiday," and someone was doing a Project 365 to coincide with holidays. Like National Hug Your Dog Day, Left-Handers' Day, Cook with Cumin Day, etc. It was a whimsical list and I wish I had printed it out. It had the history of all the days as well. There are just so many possibilities, but inevitably, when I get my camera in my hand, I sit and say, "Duh. What is there to take a picture of?"

Haven't read the list yet but how about a photo of what you were doing when you remembered you hadn't shot "today"?

I was taking a photo of my knife sharpener, and dh asked "Why are you taking a photo of THAT?" I told him it was to go with the photo I took of my carving knife the previous day. He just shook his head and left the room!
Am I going crazy?

You could do a tree in each of the four seasons to record the changes -- that would take care of four days anyway -- lol.

ANYTHING is fair game!! Look around where you are sitting right now, under your chair, your chair. Look behind you. Look above you. EVERYTHING has a story. EVERYTHING means something. EVERYTHING was placed somewhere by SOMEONE at some point for some reason and even if not, NO REASON tells a story. Someday EVERYTHING around you will mean something more than it does today because it is not where it is right now. Right now I have
a glass of wine
a rock notepad
a flylady timer
a framed photo of my neice
a notebook
two pens
a gift card

all within arms reach all with a story

what surrounds you?

(okay maybe I've had too much of that glass!!)

OK - I just drove 8 hours to Dallas and had a little time to think - here is what I came up with so far:

all my external hard drives
all my old scrapbooking supplies I should donate to someone
my new printer; my old printer
a picture of the dd home page
my bubble bath
the wheels on my car - a LO there on where those wheels have taken me
the emblem on my car & why I like it so much
my dog's bed (I just love how it looks after she has dug herself a nice hole in it!)
my christmas sock collection (takes up 1/2 my sock drawer)
my football t-shirt collection (takes up 1/2 my closet)

I'll post more ideas later - this is a fun list to go back to in a pinch & ya'll have had some good ideas - thanks!

Great lists so far, should keep us going.

Only one I'd add is my mantelpiece. I change what's on it regularly, so will be taking photos a few times through the year.

Could probably apply to your noticeboard too, show what bills/invites are up at the moment.

Yes, lol!
How about these great ideas: #45 and also #196 - take photos at a wedding, duh!

I'd have to get a flight to England before using #39. The grave of an ancestor

But, by golly, I am going to do the #303 later today. A bucket of paint you plan to use on a room.
My bucket is already set up for me in the family room. I'll also include the receipt of when I bought it!

In between the obvious, there are some good reminders on the list!

I'd love to see your changing mantelpiece pics all together. It might be neat to make a layout of them later.

I like the ideas that are coming in.

how about photos of these things:
a test your kids havde done well one
grade reports
a receipt from a shopping you've done
something you are cooking
a plate of food
a special birthday card or something like that

** at the moment it seems that I can take day to day photos of how the snow seems to "grow" in our garden... *LOL*

How about text in your world? Find signs that have individual words that are significant in your life and photograph those words.

As you throw things away your old items be sure to take photos of them first! I'm so sorry I didn't with many items that I've long got rid of.

Bowling trophies I wish i'd taken special photos of these (I have a couple though)
Old hair curling products - mine went back to the forties and so neat to look at now!
Old dress patterns - I'm glad I did this for the DD photo a day group.

Oh totally. I had kept every cinema ticket I'd got since I was about 12, then I had a decluttering session last year and chucked every one out. Of course, I've regretted it ever since that I never took a photo of them just before I threw them out. Still intend to make a LO anyway, perhaps using 1 new one (which I'm trying not to turn back into a collection!).

I love these ideas; I find I'm often struggling for the something 'new and different' since everything in my house seems so ordinary. Love the text idea -hmmmmm.
As some other suggestions:
your feet as they go through the day - slippers in the morning, shoes as you go to the store, tennies for exercise, toes into bed, etc.
I've tried picking a theme for the week and that helps focus my ideas: trees, my hand, food, my hubby, reflections, etc.
experiment with a new technique all week: candlelight, low light/high ISO pics, taking the camera off auto, black & white

Keep the ideas coming!

After reading this thread, I went browsing and found this great group who are also doing a 365 challenge but they've developed 365 themes and are attempting a picture for each theme. It's a great jumping off place for those of us who find ourselves stuck for inspiration. I like that some of them are ideas not a specific item so leave lots of room to interpret. Themes like:
a pair of..... ; chair; from the sea; legs; fasteners; free; growing; stuck; orange; repeating pattern; power, etc. To see the whole list of themes check out the blog at brucem365.blogspot.com
