Recently I've been taking a photography class at a local community school and absolutely love it. Although I've finished the 8 week course, those of us who wanted to come back and help out with the new set of beginners was more than welcomed to come back. Each week we have photo assignments for those of us considered "advanced", and the beginners are welcome to join in on the fun as well.
I wanted to come up with some new, fun assignments and figured I'd ask some of you here for some ideas. So if you have any neat ideas, please pass along my way. I'd so appreciate it.

I'm not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but how about photographing a meal? Food photography fascinates me -- perhaps I should amend that to say food fascinates me!
Some other suggetions: Shelves in a store (office supply, grocery store) Leaves (not necessarily autumn, but close-ups of green leaves) Portraits with interesting crops Photos from above or below to change perspective Or you could do a photo scavenger hunt, such as this: http://www.designerdigitals.com/digi...=78123&cat=fav Just a few ideas! Makes me want to take a photography class!

Very good ideas Linda, I especially like the scavenger hunt. Seems like loads to fun.
Katrina, I took a look back at some of the earlier challenges and will incorporate a few of those as well. Thanks so much for the input.

I would use some abstracts that require interpretation or creativity. These would give some very interesting and varied results:
Contentment Fear Warmth Joy Eternity Dreams Light Thrill Unity Fun Uniqueness Growth Become Life New Old Interest Curiosity Intensity Perseverance Colors (each color can be a challenge: red, blue, green, brown, pink, etc.) |

Here's a list from a homeschool board I frequent:
Some possibilities are: * Action shots (play w/ shutter speeds, panning etc) * Show some contrast! (light/dark in one photo, mismatched items, color tones etc.) * My world (what would your world look like in pictures?) * Color challenges (these can be separate months) -monochromatic -complementary -earth tones -I'm seeing red (photograph red things; can use the same concept for any color) *Self-portrait *Silhouette *Reflections *Unexpected *black & white photography *Macro *Angles *Botanicals *Food *Pets/animals *texture *Signs *emotions *Daily Life *Interaction *Old & New *Night Photography *Twosomes *Rest or Alone *Something unique to your home town or home state *Light & Shadow *Depth of Field (shallow or extreme) *Fall or Seasons *Celebration *Leading Lines *Rule of Thirds *Sunrise/Sunset *Family *still life *circles *negative space *shadows *architecture *market place *framing --use natural elements, architecture etc.to frame your subject *Pick a quote and have everyone interpret it in photograph. *The Golden Hour Past Challenges: Portraits, Bliss, Fast & Slow, and Birds Eye View or Worms Eye View--08 __________________

WOW...such great ideas...thanks so much for the response.
I picked some from various website site and came up with some that I think will be neat. 1) Set in Stone - photos of various stone items. 2) Reflections 3) Emotion 4) Song Titles - photos that represent a song title 5) Birds eye view (when my husband saw this as a possible assignment so he had the idea of me in a tree stand...yeah right!) 6) What do I do? (I thought this would be neat. Of course without jeopardizing confidentiality) 7) Signs - funny, retro, or unusual 8) Scavenger hunt - Thank you Linda for that great idea. Maureen....thank you for the ideas and I'm going to pull some from your list as well.
