He makes an interesting point about how everyone is very supportive and assumes that treatment leads to cure and when that is not the case the support group fades away. I am afraid I don't know how to deal with those sorts of issues, either. I have a 30yo cousin who had been battling breast cancer and complications for many years. It creates such varied reactions amongst our family.

The photos tell the sad story, don't they? I'm very sad for that couple. It's not an easy life at all for them. My sister was diagnosed at age 35. She fought cancer for 10 years until her death at age 45. Sadly, at the end, she wondered if the struggle was worth it since it was mostly a miserable time. I've never gotten over the sadness of her pain and her loss.
