Default So proud

I had to share. Isabel applied to University earlier this week. Her dream has been to take a Bachelor of Humanities programme with a limited enrollment (maximum 70-80 students per year). The University doesn't have to notify candidates until the end of March. She has been worried about not getting accepted, but she got an email today and she is in!!!! I am so proud of her.

Congratulations to you and your daughter! It is such a stressful time, isn't it?!! They think it is just their decision/journey, but as parents we are right there with them.
My eldest has just decided she doesn't want to do the course she has just spent the last TWO YEARS studying (apparently there are some subjects she doesn't like very much...). What the?!! I just want to give her a good shaking and tell her to get real and grow up!
My middle daughter just go her final high school results yesterday and got enough to get into the courses she wants, so we have to wait a month to find out if she's been accepted into the course and the halls of residence.

Esther, I feel for you. It is hard to watch your kids struggle, especially when you know that you can't make the decisions for them....good luck.

Oh well done to her, Susan. That's fantastic!

Esther, hope your eldest works out what she wants to do soon. My DH is an adviser of studies at Uni, and there's always a number of students who change their minds each year, so good luck to her. It can take bravery to say you're on the wrong path, but it is frustrating if 2 years work seems to be for nothing.

That is wonderful, good for her!!! I always think that these kids are so young to be making decisions that affect the rest of their lives. As parents we want to see them settled and secure, I'm sure your DD will find her way, Esther

Congrats Susan! She must be so happy to not have to wonder if she got in.

Esther - two years into college I decided I wanted to change my degree focus, so I changed as much as I could to what I wanted, continued with my original degree but then went on for a Masters in what I really wanted. Looking back, I am sooo glad that I switched. Good luck, it was a hard situation to be in as a college student and now that I'm a mom I'm thinking it's probably harder from this point of view.

How wonderful, Susan -- congratulations to Isabel, and you have every right to be proud!

Esther, it's so hard to watch our kids made their own decisions, but that's how they grow. Our younger son (who's just like his father) took the l-o-n-g path to his degree, finally getting it 16 years after he graduated from high school. But he did it his way, and we couldn't be prouder of him. Your daughter will be just fine, and you will, too.
