Hmmmm nothing is happening except the google sign. But then I see Google Australia, I can't seem to knock the .au off the end, it keeps defaulting.

Yes, it is frustrating. But if you click on the "I feel lucky" button on the home page it shows you all the featured images around the world:
Google Doodles: 2011 October - December which is fascinating.
Still not sure what the feature is in the USA, though...

Well, geez... I hadn't thought it might be different for y'all down under...

But, no matter... it's a Google "doodle" that they do on special occasions and today was (what would've been!) Louis Daguerre's 224th birthday! Daguerre was a French painter, physicist, and pioneer in photography... apparently, those first cameras took 8 hours or so to take and develop a photo. Daguerretype photos only took 20 minutes! So we should all celebrate, right?

I found this article online that shows the "doodle" and explains all about it! In case anyone's interested...

Glad to have this clarification. I use iGoogle so I almost never see their 'specials'. I looked for your suggestion Debi and wondered what the heck that was. Now I get it!
