Calling tech geeks - Drobo?
I have a ReadyNas for storage/backup and need to upgrade. Is there such thing as a system that allows you to use and swap hard drives? For example, could I have disk volumes 1 and 2 of video footage and switch them back and forth as needed?
I've started reading about Drobo, and was hoping someone (i.e. Randy for one) could help.

My Drobo is about 5 years old and it can't do this. But I am sure that they have really improved since then. I really love my Drobo and it works like a charm and is supported by NAPP.
I have 4 1TB discs in mine. I know that it receives mixed reviews, but I even take mine camping and it runs off a deep cell battery with an inverter. Well, I certainly didn't answer your question but I will get off my Drobo soap box. Sallie

I used to read a lot about Drobo and just gave up because it wasn't in my budget (and I just WANTED it, didn't really NEED it). It looks like a great product though. I know it's highly recommended in the photography world.
