Today is also Armistice day to remember the end of World War 1. A solemn day here in the UK with a two minute silence at 11am.

A lucky day too. My daughter's friend turns 11 today. Quite a date!

At 11 am on 11/11/11, my daughter and I were at the National War Memorial in Ottawa for the National Remembrance Day Ceremony. At the end of the official ceremony, the public was invited to place their poppies on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Thousands did so.

I attended the Remembrance Day service with my gd Amy. She sang in her school choir today at the service. They have been learning about this in school and I am so happy that she learned what it means to honor our fallen and those who are still serving. An emotional day for me.

11/11/11 was Veteran's day here in the U.S. . . . also know as Armistice Day. It was also my husband's birthday. Pretty special day for us as he is a veteran of the Army and fought in Vietnam and retired as a Lt. Col. Our 8 year old granddaughter was in a tribute to Veteran's that day too . . . and later in the day her Brownie Scout troop went to a Veteran's home to sing patriotic songs to the residents there.
