Default Just my luck!

Hubby's baseball buddy managed to score 4 tickets to see the Cardinals whoop---er, I mean play---the Rangers in Game 4 of the World Series in Texas on Sunday night. Ladies not invited, men only. None of my girl friends care a bit about baseball.

Hubby feels moderately remorseful, offered to buy me a standing-room-only ticket, but really I think he's looking forward to the guy time. Beer, hot dogs, you know the routine. In lieu of my attending the game, I get approximately two years' worth of social equity. I'm not going to feel guilty the next time I want to go on an overnight scrapbook crop!

But without me by his side, he is limited to his iPhone for photos of the event. **shudder. cringe** His one and only chance in his life to see his lifelong favorite team (mine for the past 15 years) play in the World Series and he's going to take pictures with his iPhone. That's like serving spam and frozen burritos for Thanksgiving dinner. I don't have anything against iPhone pictures in general, but if you want to get the shot of Pujols slamming that home run, or Yadi jumping up to throw out the poor schnoozer who tries to steal second base on him, it's just not gonna work.

He refuses to take my camera. Refuses. I am weeping here, I tell you, it it causing chest pain. Oh, well. At least he'll bring me back a t-shirt. And some fuzzy iPhone pictures.

I'm not sure which one he has---he just ordered it about a month ago, but it's refurbished. It does do very good pictures, but my 400mm would do much better. I knew a lot of iPhone fans would jump on me!

I just want him to get pictures of the park, the people . . . the field . . . the experience. They'll be in the outfield anyway. Whatever he brings back will be better than nothing. I'm mostly just kind of jealous that he gets to go and I don't. I'm his scorecard buddy, the keeper of the sharp pencils, the paraphernalia sherpa.

Sarah, you are a hoot! What a bummer that this is a guys only event since you are obviously as much of a baseball fan as your hubby is and would be there taking photos, too. Well, keep working the guilt thing so you get plenty of reciprocal time at scrapbook events! You're a wise and clever woman!

Maybe it is just as well he doesn't take your camera...what if he dropped it in all the excitement?

Sarah, I'm no sports fan but I do feel your pain. I get it. However, I'd be the one with the iPhone also! Weight my dear, weight...and potential beer etc on it when they jump up screaming!

Sarah, you crack me up!! I think you forgot to add "taker of amazing photos" to your list. I can imagine your pain and frustration! Perhaps you could don a disguise?!!

I think I would take the standing room only ticket and some alone time, float around the park and get some great shots, you both win on some level. He gets guy time with iPhone memories and you get to enjoy a once in a lifetime experience, with the great photo's to go with it.

First let me say ... what a bummer for you! We got a chance to go to a World Series game in 1987 and it was awesome! But I'm happy for your hubby getting the chance to go. Wishing for you that he would take your camera but hopefully his iPhone pictures will be great. I had a decent camera at our WS game and because it was indoors at the Metrodome some of the pictures still didn't come out all that great but they do evoke wonderful memories!

Well, they're on their way. Duane does have a small Kodak Easy Share super-cheap compact he took with him, though I think the iPhone will do better. The Kodak has a zoom function. He promised to bring me back an exclusive t-shirt so I'm okay with that.

On top of his getting to go, we're having a progressive dinner tomorrow night and the three couples who are hosting courses all have their husbands gone until tomorrow afternoon. Convenient, huh?

I will be watching and thinking of you.

Enjoy the progressive dinner too. It sounds like fun.

Well, the Cards lost Game 4 . . . but Duane did get some good pictures, a few of the field and the scoreboard that proved he was there for the game. Even though they lost Sunday night, they WON last night in an unbelievable game 6 for the ages! It had to be, by far, the best World Series game ever played. It doesn't matter if you're a St. Louis fan or not. Wow. We are eagerly awaiting the game tonight and feel like the momentum has shifted in our favor.

Go Cards! Here's hubby at the game with his two best friends. Duane's in the middle. If they win tonight, I'm making a layout. The local St. Louis picture has a ton of photos on their website at high enough resolution to put on a page. Cross your fingers, pop open a beer, and root for the best team in baseball!

LOL Sarah! Just spotted this, and I would have thought exactly the same thing. And your amazing 400mm (not to mention amazing you) would have been a winner at that game!

At our house we don't watch much baseball unless it is playoff time. I would agree, game 6 was absolutly the best game I have ever watched. I had a bunch of ladies from work over last night, and told them that I would mut the game but I wasn't turning the TV off for game 7.

@Lisa, I love it! Game 7 was almost an anticlimax after Game 6. We were pretty worked up. I would love to work on a LO if my leg would calm down. Right now I am pretty much bedridden and can't concentrate on anything. But I'm loving reading all the articles. Epic series and I'm so happy for David Freese, one of the lowest-paid members of the team. NLCS and World Series MVP! That kid is going somewhere.
