Default apple airport extreme router

Does anyone have any experience with apple's airport extreme base station router when used with a pc (modem connected to dh's pc) and then used with mac's? I have a macpro and ipad and am thinking about a macbook pro too. I have read some initial reports where using them with pc's is problematic. Have spent the better part of two days learning about why my router is not working... have decided it's a hardware problem and it might be easier to just replace the one that's contrary... Carol

I've had my Airport Extreme Base station for just about 10 years & have never had a problem with it. As a matter of fact, I bought it before I even had a Mac. It's worked with desktops, laptops, a MacBook Pro, iPods, iPhones, Blackberrys, iPads, Windows 98, Millenium, XP, Vista & Windows 7. It was pretty spendy at first but it has paid for itself over and over. I've used both the modem and the Ethernet port. I just can't see replacing it. I've also worked from home for the last 10 years, so it's gotten quite the workout. I can definitely say whenever this one goes belly up, I won't even consider another brand.

I've had it for three years with two Macs, one PC desktop (hardwired) and two laptops using it without a problem.

Nice to hear. Right now dh has and is in charge of our router (not AirportExtreme), but everything dies eventually. People and equipment! Now to file this somewhere in my brain should I need to remember it...

I've had my AirPort Extreme Base Station for 10 years! (this is the old dome shaped model that looked like a space station) The newer models plug into the wall, but, I keep using this one because it keeps working even through getting newer Mac computers and devices like the iPad and our iPhones. When I purchased it I was using a Bondi Blue iMac, that's how old it is! We are an all Mac users' house, but, when anyone comes over with a pc laptop or their smart phones they connect to the Internet just fine on it.

At the lake cabin we have a newer (2 years old now) AirPort Express Base Station I purchased for $99.00 and it takes care of all users who come to the cabin...PC's and Mac laptops, iPad, iPhones and smart phones.

I would think the newest models would work with macs and pc's, but, it is always good to make sure.
