Default Becoming an outdoor girl

I've never been much of an outdoor girl past sitting on the deck to read a book and a little bit of tending flowers. But this year, we put in a garden and I'm loving it! Today we planted our fall crops...spinch, beets and kale...where some of the summer crops are done. Tonight we are having our first fire in the firepit I requested for my birthday. It's the first fall-ish evening and it seems appropriate. I think I'm turning into an outdoor girl in my old age! Such fun! What other fall activities are you up to?

Does sitting on a lawn chair on the driveway count? I'm reading through the pre-reading curriculum for Ellie while she is playing with a remote control jeep. I might as well be a feature story for REI magazine.

I love sitting outside, being outside---hiking and exploring. Hubby, not so much. But Tropical Storm Lee blew through this weekend with much-needed rain, and brought glorious September weather---80 degrees and breezy! We walked around Black Bayou Lake this morning and in a little while we'll go to friends' house with a big group and have burgers, brats, and macaroni and cheese. Glad you're enjoying your garden. We had a garden a couple years ago but couldn't keep it going in the hot summer months.

Ever since I can remember, I've spent time outdoors in the garden with my dad and later camping and cottaging with my family. My work day is very focused and high tech and I love to just get outside and "be".

I've been thinking about a fire pit. Seems like it would be fun to have in the fall.
We just came back from a bike ride. The cool weather was nice for it. Looking forward to apple picking and all things apple-y.

It is 61 degrees after 101 a couple of days ago. So tonight we are watching bucket loads of rain fall . . . compliments of TD Lee! ( that is tropical depression for those of you who aren't it his path. ) No outdoors or fire pits here!

I was watching my neighbor's fire pit across the street. Everything smells like camping. lol I love fall and it's perfect for being outside. My favorite outdoors activity is walking the dogs through the parks that we have here. They all have bike trails and streams. Beautiful when the sun is shining through the trees.

A fire pit sounds great. This weekend coming up I'm planting a vege garden for the first time. (It being spring here). I wish we had better outdoor area (it's all so steep on the side of the volcano!) but I'm hoping to spend more time out for the rest of this year.

It was perfect yard work weather here, cool enough that I could wear long sleeves. I weeded and thinned out our raspberries, ate quite a few while I worked and then picked more for the week. Perfect holiday, if you ask me.

No fire pit here, although it does sound like fun!

Lynn, glad you're enjoying your new garden. Cassie, you crack me up! My fall outdoor plans: as much hiking as I can squeeze in before the snow starts to fall. : )

Beckie, I'm originally from Michigan and do miss the gorgeous cool falls. My mom used to have raspberries - loved her raspberry pie and annual jars of jam.

I would like to think of myself as outdoorsy - but not really. When I live in more country settings I love being out. But living in wall to wall houses just doesn't draw me out much. We do have a delightful trail around the property where I work and it is finally going to be cool enough to go for a walk at lunch. Temps will be good this week but sounds like lots of rain on the way. Guess that means more scrapping!

I love being outdoors. I bought a macro lens this summer and the "tiny" world opened up to me in my garden. I really enjoyed my flowers and veggies close-up this summer. We put in a fire pit this year as well, and hope to use it in the fall too. Enjoy your time around the fire...!

I just came in from the fire. I smell like wood smoke and love it! I had to tear myself away as it's getting late, even though there are still flames and perfect coals for cooking. We cooked and I poked logs for hours. I can't wait till the next cool evening. I've become an outdoor girl for sure!

Thanks for sharing your outdoor activities! Gives me ideas!

This morning on the way to school we passed a house which must have a real log fire as the smell coming out of the chimney was wonderful, totally autumny.

We've also just booked a weekend away up to Glencoe, hopefully wander round forests, love the clear air up there.

Autumn is definitely my favourite season.

isn't it crazy how the autumn brings us outside? I do obviously pend time outside in the summer, but don't 'do' heat well, so the days when its autumn, but not raining, mean I am always outside, dragging everyone with me

Chrissy, you know how much I love glencoe take some pictures for me

I love being outside--summer, fall, winter, and spring. My favorite time is when we are camping- no phone, no work, just total relaxation.

nothing outside around here this week, it's pouring down rain non-stop! I love being outside, we have a pool and the hotter, the better for me I live in the wrong part of the country...

Mmm. I'm going camping/tenting soon. I'm so looking forward to a weekend without any stress (good thing it's not this weekend though - would hate to miss the sale )

Fall is usually pretty here in Norway. Hopefully it will dry up in a bit. We've had so much rain the last month!
