Default Remember my FL Trip??? well...

I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

I drove to Charlotte NC , I drove to Birmingham AL where I got caught in a downpour and where my GA friend and I texted back and forth and spoke on the phone and finally decided that it wouldn't be wise to go down to the Gulf with the tropical storm. So, I drove back up to Kennesaw GA and we met and spent my birthday together with a dinner at one of Ted Turner's Montan Grills. Now I have driven back to Charlotte NC, and will drive to Annapolis tomorrow. 1200+miles so far , but who's counting...

Beach trip? hardly. But Mr. Marriott and I are on a first name basis now I think since I have sampled almost all the various brands in the Marriott family on this trip...the lower end of the family i.e. But drive is what I have done. Drive, drive, drive. At least I have reminded myself that I CAN still do long distance driving on my own, but I seriously will be glad not to see another interstate for a loooooong while!

Oh, I'm sorry your trip didn't turn out as planned, Maureen. Charlotte and Birmingham are not bad places to be -- I love both cities -- but I know you'll be glad to get back home and sleep in your own bed.

OMGosh, Maureen, I'm so sorry. I hate that nothing worked out for you. I have to say that I'm so glad you didn't take chances though. Too many people do. Sleep well, tonight.

But look at it this way, you'll be able to get a scrapbook page out of it anyway. Even if you have to do one with no pictures. You could just put in the blank frames and write what they would have been....

You need to take a picture of the mileage ... if its still there when you get home and have big lines through the names of all the things states people etc you didn't see but you need to include a picture of the tropical storm you didn't see either much better to be safe.... it was your birthday!

What a bummer trip, Maureen. I'm glad that you were able to meet up with your friend in Georgia to celebrate your birthday.

You've some great ideas from the girls here for a pretty cool "Florida Trip" scrapbook page!!

Bummer Maureen. Hope in the 1200 + miles you have been making lots of pit stops for scenic photos! It will be an entirely different album than planned.

Thanks all. Yes, I do need to get a shot of the 1800+ miles. My heart - and rear end - go out to anyone who has to do a lot of one day here, one day there kind of work travel. I truly started to forget where I was and where I was going, or not going.

@Janet GA...is the abbreviation for Georgia, one of our states. Southern, hot, and where I bought boiled peanuts. Kind of like the original downhome edaname imho.

Maureen, I just returned from the Gulf to Birmingham! It rained the entire weekend. People were leaving in droves by Saturday. You made the right choice! So sorry it turned out that way, but I hope you'll get the chance to visit the beach before too long.

LOL...Amy I was in your backyard over on Wildwood Circle, back in the shopping center. It was a downpour when I arrived otherwise I would have tried to contact you and Patricia. But I was drenched, tired, and glued to the weather channel!

btw, the place I stayed in in Kennesaw GA was tornado city yesterday. I sure got out of there in time! One earthquake, one hurricane, yes locusts too, is more than enough summer issues for me. Glad I didn't have to add tornado to my list!
