Default Nook???

Do any of you have a Nook color?? I am feeling the tug pulling me closer and closer to giving in. I have tons of books yet to read but still think I would really love this. My daughter has one and loves it!!!!

I adore my nookcolor - i find that I have been able to read a lot more books then before, because I just keep it in my purse and can pull it out at lunch or breaks. Plus it's easy to carry to DD events (or if i'm waiting in the car line at school dismissal!) I can even surf the internet and play games from the android market...

Now I'm waiting on the Harry Potter books to be released in ebook format in November, because then no one will know if I choose to read the entire series back to back again (for about the 7th or 8th time!)

Good luck with your decision.

I even put all my DD tutorial PDF files on it for reference!

I love my Kindle!
And I gave my sister one when she turned 40 earlier this year. She's equally mad about hers!

I really like my Kindle. I truly can carry my library with me in my purse. Personally, I choose the Kindle for two reasons, more of the books I read are available (not so mainstream) & I really wanted something that was like reading a real book. My husband has an iPad, which is great for all it can do but I found the screen hard to read longterm & amazingly... I got too distracted with all I could do. Between checking email & the quick surfing trip, I couldn't get too much reading done. Guess I'm too easily distracted! LOL

If you are comparing the two, the library e-books will be available on Kindle also by the end of the year.

I have a Kindle... I too like having a library in my purse.... best part is when you need a new book you just turn the wireless on...select click and 1 minute later you have a new book to read.... cheaper than going to walmart and coming out with a new book and 50 other things you remember you needed... sure enough if I stay out of wall Mart I don't need the stuff so bad..... The Kindle doesn't let you buy the books again ... no need for a list..... Amazon will restore your books if you drop your kindle in the loo... or put it in the washing machine ... drop it or if you just loose it.... good point for those of us that do the stupid stuff! I'm using hubby's kindle. He is more a paper book kind of guy (good thing since he likes to throw them on the floor next to the bed when he is ready to turn in) and I love the kindle. I catch myself thinking about having to make the pages flat when I turn the page

Love my Sony Reader, too! Great being able to check out books from the library. (Too much of a cheapskate to pay for every book I read:-)

I got a Nook a few months ago and LOVE it. Great to have it in my bag wherever I go. One note - I have the black and white and that is what they recommended if you do much reading outside since there is no glare. Since I only use it to read, I don't mind not having color.

One other thing on the Nook Color...the last book I read had links to instructional videos on photo processing! Just plug in ear buds and watch using our home network. Too cool. (And you do read in black and white in the standard format.)

I have an old-fashioned Nook (not the Nook Color) with 3-g, and I love it!! It's my constant companion. So much better for traveling than trying to find room to pack 10 or 12 books!

I just received a regular Nook for my birthday. Love it. much lighter than carrying the 3 or 4 books I pack for vacation.

LOVE my Nook!!! I travel for work quite often and love being able to take my entire digital library with me. Since I am a big purse lady, there is always room in my bag for it.

I was afraid I was going to miss the feel of real books, but I actually found that it is more comfortable to hold than the really thick paperbooks. I have Rhumatoid Arthritis/Lupus so that was a big plus. I have no regrets, and it's actually much more cost and space effective, I used to buy up any good book that looked interesting at the flea market/garage sales, now I have all this extra room at home.

My thoughts, kindle/nook, you can't go wrong with either.

Somewhat unconnected to this post but...my dgd was having great difficulty with reading at age 9 or so. They got her a tutor etc but she still struggled and did not read for pleasure at all though her younger sister always has had her nose in a book. My son got an iPad, and she was interested. They got her a Kindle and her reading took off. No more struggle in school, she got 3 out of 4 perfect scores in her Standard of Learning tests this year, and she loves reading now.

I don't know what it was about the ability to read on a kindle rather than on paper but something worked for her. Perhaps it's that she has been digital otherwise her whole life? Just a thought for any of you who have a child or grandchild who struggles with reading.
