Default I have had a very traumatic morning!! **updated**

I witness a very vicious dog attack by this dog. I filed this incident report with the RCMP :

This morning about 9 :00 am I left my house at **** drive to go for a jog along the river pathway. As i rounded a corner near the playground on ***** I came upon two ladies with an English Bulldog. I smiled and said cute dog. They said it wasn't theirs and that it looked awfully thirsty. Being the dog lover that i am I offered to take the dog home, give it some water and call the humane society. The dog did not have a collar or tags. The dog was happy to jog along beside and seemed very sweet and friendly. we kept on along the pathway until we encountered a woman and her two little dogs on the river corner of *****Drive. As we approached she was herding her dogs off to the side of the pathway and I mentioned the bulldog was not mine (we were still 10ft or so from her) then the bulldog just bolted to the dogs and started biting whichever one it could get its mouth on. The attack was vicious and completely unprovoked. The woman managed to lift one of her dogs off the ground while the leash of the other one entangled me and took me down as the little dog tried to escape the bulldog. I managed to free myself and ran to a nearby house for help. No one was home however. A flagged down a woman in a black SUV to help us and while I kept the bulldog away from the woman and her dogs the lady from the truck helped her into the truck and took her to the vet. Needless to say I was a tad freaked with the bulldog now and wary to go near it. But the second the dogs were gone it settled right now and was running beside me again. The dog followed me to my neighbor's house where I called the RCMP. The attack happened about 9:30 am.

That's seriously scary Heather! Never trust a dog that's not with it's owner or on a leash! I've learned that, even at Dixie's day care there are dogs that look sweet and I once went to have Dixie say hello to a dog and a worker pulled me back and said not to let Dixie near them. Looks can be so deceiving when it comes to dogs. Glad you are okay. Were the other dogs injured?

That is horrific! When I was about seven I was standing on top of my aunt's deck at her house and a little yippy dog came by and jumped all the way up four steps and bit me on the eye, it was about 1/2 an inch from taking my eye out. I was at the hospital waiting to get rabies shots when they found the owners and verified it had been vaccinated. My uncle insisted the dog be put down, though. In college I heard a rottweiler maul and then kill a shih tzu next door---there was nothing I could do---fenced in, no one home. It was awful.

I hope everyone is okay and the little dogs weren't hurt. What's the protocol up there for something like this? Will the dog be impounded and put down?

I have been wary of dogs ever since. I am not a dog person and hesitate to be around them, especially bigger breeds.

yes they were, i gave the police officer permission to forward my info to the owner. I hope she calls me later. I felt so horrible for her and her "babies". She was beyond hysterical as they drove away. I am okay, just a scratch from the leash. shaky though! I am not sure if the other dog will be put down, they are going to check for a microchip and try to find the owner.

What a horrible experience. I guess you can never be sure with an unknown animal. We came home on the 4th of July to find my daughter with an old do she had found. My dh had a fit because he was concerned at what could happen with our dog, and although you want to help an animal in need, they can be unpredictable. I am so glad you weren't seriously hurt. So scary.

I guess the good news is that you were there when the dog attacked the other, which it sounds like it would have done anyway-what a terrible thing to have happen! Glad to hear you are ok!

I just spoke with the injured dogs owner and they are going to be ok. The have some pulled/torn muscles and lots of bruising. They are going to be anti inflammatories for a few days. They were both so scared they lost bladder/bowel control all over the place at the vets, poor things. The bulldog owner was found and the story was she was walking her dog with a choke chain collar on but when it goes slack it is too big and she slipped right out and ran off. She said the dog has never ever attacked other dogs before and she has stepped up to pay all vet bills. She too is sick over this. I just made a lasagna to bring over to the puppies owner, figured she was too stressed out to do anything today!!

Oh dear, what a disaster for everyone all round. I remember how we felt when mike was bitten by the Rottweiler when he picked up a little stray to protect it. So glad you didn't have Sawyer with you but I feel for the little dogs. Their wounds may heal but they will have been changed forever.

You are very brave and kind, Heather. I would love a neighbor such as you . . . I am sure that the little dogs and their owner are eternally grateful to you.

Oh thank you , such a kind thing to say! I would hope someone would do the same if it was me. I just felt sick for her and those doggies.
